In 2024, Lifeway Research estimates 3,800 new Protestant churches were started in the U.S., while 4,000 churches were closed.

My guess would be that in the larger cities, people tend to go to mega churches. They typically have more events for young people and can afford the bells and whistles that smaller churches can't.

IMO, I think it would do most Christians a great deal of good if we could learn to be satisfied with smaller churches without a band and a coffee shop.

So, I just explained all this to my wife about what we are arguing about. She said, grammatically you are correct and that my Cajun way of speaking is getting in the way of understanding you because we do not speak like the rest of the country.

She says we are in our own world down here and people do not understand us. The way we talk, eat, work, joke people just do not understand our culture.

The people who do come to our country need to become American. People coming from other countries need to learn English and take on the American values like capitalism, free speech, work hard don’t leach onto our tax dollars by way of welfare.

there are a lot of younger people.... even younger than me.. . generation z born after us millenials - who are going back to old school traditional churches - like the 1 i am a member of ..... and also the old school catholic church i sometimes help out in.... . it doesn;t get any more old school traditional than that... ..... what i have heard them say is that they find a greater sense of peace in the old churches... ... and just feel more comfortable in general.... ......i have heard more than one say they don;t come to church to be entertained..... but rather to learn how to serve......

That’s an interesting point, one I can relate to based on recently leaving a smaller IFB church after many years. I’ve started attending a mid sized SBC church, but have also not ruled out a mega church that we enjoy as well. I think both have pros and cons. In my experience, one of the cons of smaller churches is they tend be very cliquey and “up in your business.”
