Mr. Godfrey has been placed in a long term care facility. Since his surgery for a broken arm in January, his dementia has worsened and he is no longer able to walk, so is confined to a wheelchair. The facility is not far from where they live so Mrs Godfrey is able to visit frequently.

I got to know Mr Godfrey post Hyles Anderson days...we spent years at the same church and they often stayed with my in laws when they traveled out east. In the time that I knew him, he was genuine and lived what he believed. I had occasion twice, to see him share the gospel (very lovingly and earnestly) with people he came across and he had NO idea he was being watched and listened to. Mrs Godfrey always was very sweet and kind to me. If you are so inclined, please remember them in this period of their lives.

I can hardly remember a Sunday morning in the mid 70's through the late 80's at FBC Hammond where Mr Godfrey didn't have a man sitting with him in church with whom he led to Lord during the previous week. This man then would walk with Mr Godfrey to the front during the invitation to make a profession of faith and follow the Lord in baptism.

He truly lived the life that he was teaching others to do....personal evangelism at its finest.

I saw that as well. Anyone can criticize his methods or its effectiveness, but the man was wholly sold out to his mission. I remember not really caring for his class in personal evangelism, but he believed in it 100%.
