So, World Net Daily has reported that Wycliffe, Summer Institute of Linguistics and Frontier are producing "Muslim Friendly Bibles" which change "God" to "Allah" and alter texts that deal with the Deity of Christ.

Is this for real?

Now, I've never heard of Summer Institute of Linguistics or Frontier, but I have supported Wycliffe missionaries for many years.

Is WND credible?  Or are they an National Enquirer type of rag?

Sadly, I sent an email to Wycliffe asking for information, but after a week, I've yet to receive a response.

It's stupid. It's even more stupid that even Arabs don't really know Arabic well enough to know that the word for God in Arabic is not Allah but al-ilah (the god) - What happened was this word was shortened to Allah which became the name of God for Arabs. Also the first ever Arabic translation of the Bible in he 9th Century did not have the name Allah. The name for God in the Arabic Bible was Yahweh.

An interesting side note: In Malaysia it is illegal for non-Muslims to refer to their God as Allah.

No biggie for me, I'll just stick with my King James Bible.

I see WorldNutDaily is being their usual credible selves.

The Wycliffe Global Alliance organizations and their personnel are not omitting or removing the familial terms, translated in English as

I figured it would have a bunch of marginal notes throughout that would say, "This passage must not be authentic and have been corrupted over time, because it conflicts with the Holy Quran."

There seems to be a bit of confusion on this subject but it does indeed appear that they are replacing God with Allah while trying to justify it in some historical context.  Note the following from their official website:

Are you removing the name of God and replacing it with Allah?
