You're kidding saying dh was a favorite............

Absolutely no kidding.  In fact, the year after Dave left they allowed the student body to vote for two preachers to bring to HAC chapel to preach.  Dave Hyles and Johnny Pope had the most votes and they preached.

I believe this 100%

I've been anticipating BCH to post that RAIDER was one of his favorite chapel speakers.
Some of us might then have replied that RAIDER never preached in chapel, and BCH would reply, "He should have."

Word count: 35, if BCH is a word.

People must remember, the wide majority of HAC students had NO IDEA of the evil Dave was doing.  We only knew him as a teacher, preacher, ministry leader.  He had a brilliant mind, a great sense of humor, and spoke well.  That's the extent that we knew.

Yes he was a real life Dr. Jekyell and Mr. Hyde.

When he was good he was really good, but when he was bad he was really bad.

There was a saying going around then that applied to all the great men of God in our church,

"Great Men have Great Needs."

Then they proceeded to prove it.

A 101 guide of being a complete idiot.

Hitter followers suffered the same.

I understand this completely.

I believe 100% that those who knew EVERYTHING allowed him to come back and preach.

Sad but true.

If they didn't know they didn't know.  Why would Raider or any others be idiot's for not knowing? Young and naive teenagers, what's your beef anyway? with Raider.

Is obviously jealousy. When one reaches the pinnacle of HACerdom, they become an easy target from the minions.

I was freshman when that vote took place '82. I was green, had no idea who Dave Hyles was when I came there.... right after he went to TX. Even in '85 as the whole thing had gone over bad..... I had no idea what was going on. Guess I was minding my own business. What a revelation to hear the truth.  :o

I would imagine he would have been a choice of 99% of this forum's members had they been  HAC students at the time.

However, during my junior year - I believe it was - when we had heard of his leaving MRBC and the reasons why, my cassette tapes of his preaching were smashed and thrown away.

Rather a faulty comparison  to Hitler and the blind Nazi followers. He wasn't in front of us day after day pushing evil propaganda.

DH wasn't ever an example of a humble servant.

He was JH revealed.

The pastors that sent their teens should be ashamed.

Those teens would have been better served to attend a local college.

My pastor didn't send me.

My parents  didn't send me.

God sent me.

You wanna tell Him He should be ashamed.

I enjoyed the preaching of a pastor from Pasco, WA who visited church members on a Harley. But the name escaped me......someone help me remember.
