Nothing says black lives matter...

AKA The First Annual Freddie Gray Memorial Drugstore Torching.

Arson for social justice! Soon to be followed by drunk driving for sobriety, and fornicating for virginity.

Baltimore's mayor needs to be tossed out on her ear!!

You can disagree but I see the point she is making.

Since the people were ALLEGEDLY in protest of police violence (actually, I believe they were simply using it as an excuse instead of it being reality), it seems to me the worst thing would be for the police to come in guns blazing. Becoming violent against a violent group because of perceived violence would have made matters worse, IMHO.

Imagine the death/injury toll if the police hadn't started in the defensive posture and moved slowly plus allow the civil community members to help restore order. I've made several posts lately about police brutality but I think they handled it about as peaceful while protecting life over property as could be expected.

The mayor gave them the ok, to destroy other peoples property. In most cases insurance will not pay for damage due to riots, terrorists etc...So innocent people AGAIN have to pay the price. There is a consequence for wrong. They need to watch the videos of the people doing the damage and arrest them and charge them!

The locals (such as Vietnam vet Robert Valentine), who really care about the community, are doing their best to calm and re-direct the rioters.  Thank God for brave souls who stand against chaos.

Very much agree. Even the Nation of Islam in that community helped subdue the situation to help the police. Others are voluntarily cleaning up the debris.

There are some very good people in that community and hopefully their example and words teach the younger generation that protesting with violence only worsens matters.

Agree

One of the things I heard about today is there are many elderly in that area who relied heavily on that CVS that was torched. They don't have the mobility to walk elsewhere, transportation to drive nor the financial means to take the bus, which is why that particular CVS was needed in that community. Plus, heard there are few grocery stores but because CVS carried groceries, it was extremely convenient. Sad that all those people who desperately needed that store, people in the community who had their personal small businesses ruined and employees lost their jobs (at least temporarily, if not altogether).

Based on today's news, seems even some gang members began to see how the community only harmed themselves by doing what they did...

There are good people in the neighborhoods who are having their property destroyed:

People protesting violence against people by committing violence against people.  Smart power.

This gets the attention of the media to the problem. Sadly it's at the expense of so many innocent people
