For those who disagree with the book, what are your rebuttals to the book's views?

The book has been controversial, I just finished reading it. I got the kindle after it was talked about on this site last week.

I would like to know from those who disagree with the book what they think. This is not a debate thread over the book. I just want to hear some input on this.

I agree with the book, but I'll put in 2 cents anyway.

One of the things that impressed me about the book is how even-handed it was.  It lays out the pagan origins of a tradition, then it asks, "So, what?  What difference does it make where this tradition comes from if it's a good tradition."  Then it quite accurately describes the negative effects the pagan tradition has on the body of Christ.  So it doesn't just expose a contemporary practice and then condemn it simply because our current tradition has its roots in pagan traditions.  It explains why it's a bad thing.

I also heard it has tons of footnotes to support all its claims.  I have the audio version, so I didn't get to see the footnotes.  If ever I believe a point needs to be substantiated, I will buy the paperback so I can research the footnotes, myself.  But it seemed pretty open-and-shut to me.
