Only KJV?

Neither does a BISHOP has the right to harass her, whether the church worships one bible version over the other or not. I could care less.

Bishop is a calling, not a paid position to be used to degrade the Teacher.

The version she used was quite appropriate for children, very understandable, we all know this.

Whether Bishop, Elder, Overseer, Pastor they have no right to harass the Teacher over petty stuff. That's abusing their calling.
Asking someone to abide by a stated policy is not harassment, that fact that you think it is shows your mind set. The Bishop is the overseer, administrator or "superintendent", that is very much his purview. You are implying he has no purview, a sort of Christian anarchy, not Biblical at all.
I didn't imply anything. I am a Pastor so in no way am trying to diminish any sort of biblical authority God granted.

Harassing VBS Teachers is not biblical. Nor is thinking because you have a certain position in the church it ordains such behavior.

Uniformity:

: the quality or state of being the same : the quality or state of being uniform or identical

Unity:

: the state of being in full agreement
You read what you posted right? In the context of the thread, they weren't in full agreement or they would have agreed. Seems simple enough. If they are in full agreement on the issue of the Bible they will be the same on the issue of the Bible. Seems they weren't in unity.

I guess we don't need Romans 14 or 1 Corinthians  because these deal with unity while not being agreement on the issue.
Romans 14 is not relevant to a "which Bible" discussion. 1 Corinthians was a letter of reproof for all sorts of problems, not a letter of "lets all just get along".

It does if you want to make application of the truth of the text.

One group says you can eat any food, the other group limits it to one type of food.

One group says you can read any Bible, the other group limits it to one Bible version.

Both issues are highly emotional, causes division and cause folks to judge one group while the other group despises the first group.

Yeah, I don't see any similarities between them.

See, this is always the issue. If someone agrees on a single Bible version being used in a church, they agree with the Pastor, if they don't, they agree with the teacher.

The point to me is not whether I agree with the policy that was broken, it is that a policy was broken.

Let me ask this, do you have any policies at VBS, or is it a free for all?

By your statement you must think Walmart hassles you for enforcing a dress code, and your employer harasses you when he asks you to show up for work on time, and your mom harassed you when she asked you to clean your room.
There is a HUGE difference between being the Boss, the Owner of your own Business, and being one of the Elder/Pastors of Gods church.

Right...so it's obvious to you that Paul was addressing the larger issue in his letters to Corinth and Rome. Why would you explicitly claim there is no application when you yourself can see how it plays out today?

By the way, we don't have VBS. I am also not aware of VBS or any sort of separate teaching regarding children in scripture but am not willing to be concerned about it. VBS probably doesn't hurt....well at least most of the time. Now i guess I see how it could be misused. That's too bad

In every direction, you seem overly concerned with having some authority you've assigned to yourself.  Sounds like you are trying to make church some kind of occupation or career. Get a job instead. Then you can use this mentality in the enviornment it was intended

The only problem is that Romans 14 is for unity of Christians. Your first application does not work.

And depending on who you listen too maybe the second application either.

It was a nice try in attempting to deflect the application of Romans 14...

Policies, like teachers must be in doctrinal agreement with the church, or teachers must attend regular services to keep their teaching position, or are you "there is no doctrinal statement except "we believe the Bible"?

We have a doctrinal statement which is provided prior and again, at a membership class upon joining. . If they don't believe the fundamentals of the faith, they do not join of course. Generally they wouldn't be there in the first place so that never happens.
Upon joining, I crossed out what I didn't believe of their Doctrinal Statement- added verses then had to type up a whole new sheet. It took a whole week to fully explain my beliefs because i subscribe to nothing that anyone else does.  Everything from Annihilation (which I believe but not in the manner that most do) to addressing points of Calvinism. Their Doctrinal statement changed sometime after I joined but before I became an Elder.
I honestly have not compared the two versions but apparently there are subtle differences. Wording more generalized. Two Elders told me they believe it's due to my involvement in church.

Since I studied scripture, I knew if they were a biblical church, they would allow me to join and they did. They had already taught me how to study.

I do not fully believe what Calvinism teaches though the other Elders, to my knowledge, do. I don't care either way.

We are a church plant of a very well known Calvinistic Church in California, and the Pastor who started our church, was very high up. Holding two separate positions in that church so our church is modeled after it.  Two of our other  Elders graduated from their Seminary. Yet many of our members do not subscribe to Calvinism. And of course... we have no statements which say petty things like Teachers need to attend church so much of the time, that's because the Bible says no such thing.

You see, a doctrinal statement is useful yes, but it is not biblical. Meaning you do not expect someone to give some kind of oath to it.

I miss church ALOT over the Summer due to to work. Two of our Elders/Pastors are racers. A few local bike races take place on Sundays. Those days part of our congregation could be missing to watch these Pastors race. They are on the same team. The majority of our Members are involved in weekly Bible Study at any given moment.

Biker your last post explained everything. You claim to study but have concluded a hodgepodge of eclectic beliefs. Your approach to church leaves you unqualified to hold any place of leadership but here you are.

No wonder the world is confused and sees no diference in Christians.

IH you throw around these WORLDLY important titles like SUPERINTENDENT, Administrator, offer up WORLDLY EXAMPLES with employees and their bosses  so you can justify harassing your VBS Teacher about what BIBLE version she uses which isn't based in scripture either. You're just picking a fight. There is no love in the world, in contrast to the New Covenant which we live in where it defines everything we do.

You have no interest in scripture to decide who and who isn't justified to Teach. You operate outside of scripture.

Get a job. Earn the right IN THE WORLD to hold to some authority over others calling yourself ADMINISTRATOR.

Leave GODS Church alone

"The" Pastor?

Totally unbiblical. There is no "one man show" when it comes to running a church. No ONE Pastor. There is a group of men, all equal, who run the church.
Let's say there are 5 men who run this church.

He is 20% of the Leadership team

She is 100%, The Teacher of her class

The End
This seems so elementary.

Almost like...eating a gnat.

You realize you asked that in on an anti-KJV only forum right?
This is not an anti-KJV forum. I've quoted the KJV many times and never had anyone buck it. Nor seen anyone do that here.

So, I agree with the Pastor from the point of consistency. If it is a KJV church, making a statement like "we believe the KJV to be the preserved word of God for...",
There is no such thing as a KJV Church. This is not biblical

If she had passed out the pictures before I saw them, I would not have had a caniption, but I would have asked her to be more careful. I would also feel obligated to provider her with resource material, which BTW is the struggle most SS teachers have.
He takes it upon himself here (hypothetical) to tell her to "be more careful". THe one man pony show gets to decide what is taught to the children because the poor stupid sunday school Teachers "struggle with their teaching materials". What in the World??? This man has no need for scripture

If you were the pastor of a church, would you forbid pictures, posters, or banners to be displayed in your church that have scripture verses from a version other than the KJV? What about bulletin covers with a verse from a non-KJV version?

I ask because my sister-in-law was told that she could not pass out a coloring sheet to her first grade class at VBS last week because the picture she found had a verse not from the KJV.
You realize you asked that in on an anti-KJV only forum right?

An anti-KJV forum?  Would you be so kind to name one regular here on this forum who is anti-KJV?
