Wow! Just got back home and read the many comments.

What a bunch of dolts to defend the Fuhrer Jack Hyles who split up the marriage of his secretary.

Purely rumor.

LOL!  Tell Vic that.

Sounds almost like what we are describing in this thread.  :)

So let me get this straight...my HAC-grad, kool-aid drinking former pastor disrespects my home, and its my fault?

And for your information...I am the spiritual head of my home...but I do not tell my wife what to wear, think, say or where she goes to church. She's an adult capable of making her own decisions of which she (as well as all of us) is accountable for.

No it's not ur fault he disrespected ur WIFE not ur house.

BUUUUUUUT, I would've showed up unannounced and spoke to him very strong and let him know, that if he EVER contacted my wife AGAIN I would break his jaw.

But we different down here, I get it. And if he's bigger than me I would bring a billy club  :-)

You are the spiritual head of you home and you can't lead your wife to go to church with you?
I hear that E-Bay has a supply of cajones for sale...
Hey pal...the only place you can find your idea of leadership is Iran. What an idiot.
They call you by name at the bakery...CREAMPUFF!

p.s. No Value, it's truly refreshing that you value your wife as an individual, not just a possession of yours that needs to toe your line at all costs.

Hey Creampuff, down here in south west Louisiana the women are actually attracted to men that are actually men and wouldn't dream of going anywhere without their assertive rough, rugged and raw man.

And while I'm at it, you should've broke Jack Schaaps jaw in his office.

:-)

I love this place

You can find it in my house.

No value...

I have seen that stupidity.

And that mutt was wrong.

But, your wife isn't a spiritual free agent.

Ephesians 5:22 (KJV)
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
Ephesians 5:24 (KJV)
Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
Colossians 3:18 (KJV)
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.

I can't believe I have to post these Scriptures on a supposed 'fundamental' website, but this IS the 21st century.  ::)

Why be surprised?  This is the same forum where you find support for sodomite marriage.

Right before that...

Submit each of you, one to another.

Without a doubt, but somebody has to be the leader and God has specifically ordained the husband to that position.  Any good leader will submit to they who follow them but ultimately it is the leader who stands responsible before God  for what goes on in that home, what is taught, etc. etc.

You guys need to cut no value some slack.

A good husband does not have to order his wife around to be the leader of the home. I suspect he knew his wife would follow his lead and support his decision. He may not have been showing weakness, he may have been showing good judgment in allowing her to feel it was her decision, not his orders. In doing so she shows complete loyalty to her husband & does not feel she was forced to do it. In the end the results are the same but the relationship is strengthened. He sees once again she will back his decision 100% & she sees he trust her to always make the right choices.

I often tell my wife I think we should do this or what do you think about that. I want her to be involved in every major decision we make. We have a wonderful marriage & I know she will always defer to my judgment if I have made up my mind. God has given her to me to help me & I value her input. I never order her around & she always defers to my judgement on the major issues. When I'm unsure about something, God often gives her the perspective I may be lacking on the matter. I know I have the final say in our home, but that does not mean I have to act like a dictator.

No value airs all his griefs and groans on this forum, we're just responding to what he reveals.
No one here believes in acting like a dictator, in case you didn't read my post about leadership and followship.

Same here, I'm no dictator. We talk about everything.

Point taken.  Carry on.

Note: Where I come from the pastor would have also had a surprise visit that would have ended badly. Not sure its ever appropriate for a pastor to visit a married women alone, in her home, when he knows the husband is away.

Do you mean Complementarian marriage? If not can you define Complegarian?

No, I mean complegarian. A marriage that to hardcore egalitarians would be labelled as complementarian and to hardcore complementarians as egalitarian. In practice, it is neither. In fact, it is much like you described above except the "I have the final say in our home" quite often ends up being what she what it was she wants since I called first and foremost to be the chief servant of our family.

In fact, I can only think of one time when I was absolutely against something (a something she ultimately respected my wishes on), and then it was not because I didn't agree with her, but because I was wanting more for her than she wanted for herself. She has no problem letting me lead our home because she knows, in all things, I strive to put away my own wishes for the wishes of my wife and kids. And I have no problem with her making major decisions for our family because her judgment and discernment are often better than mine and her attitudes, actions, and values complement my own.

For myself, it's very simple. He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and who I found is someone I am deeply in love with and who I also happen to like a great deal. I hate going to work, and I love coming home. I hate when we cannot sleep in the same bed, and I look forward to shared nights with her. We actively live out a one-flesh relationship, and I am hoping and praying that our kids learn from it and get half as lucky as we are when/if they choose a mate.
