Pedophila isn't a crime!?

Now isn't the bigger problem...

Then why do you not start threads on those topics?

If they are BIGGER problems because they are more common and widespread sins, then why argue the obvious?

This thread is all about PEDOPHILIA. It should stand on its own as a grievous sin without guilt distractions. No amount of pointing fingers at other sins will change the fact that we have a REAL problem that is lurking in most churches... sexual perverts who fantasize about victimizing children. There has been a pedophile in EVERY church I have attended and been a minister in. It IS a BIG problem.

First church: size about 700 people. A 17 year old molested a child he babysit
Second church: size about 150 people. A 23 year old, grew up in the church, was sent to prison for molesting children. He was released and tried to settle back in the church.
Third church: size about 80 people. A 20 something, grew up in the church, became very angry and confided in me that he was wanting to rape children.
Fourth church: size about 40 people. A 30 something, released from prison after 18 months. Shows repentance and is active in ministry (albeit limited).
Fifth church: size about 2000 people... we have our doubts about some and are watching

Every church I have been in, no matter what size, has had to deal with this issue from one degree to another.

So... if you think gluttony, greed, pride and lust are criminal activities which are a bigger problem than pedophilia, then start threads on those!

I'm trying to imagine a church where pedophilia is glorified from the pulpit. Because I know I've heard gluttony, greed, pride, and lust glorified there. But let's all pretend like the full blown acceptance of these other evils is somehow better.

I can't seem to recall the red letters saying that overeaters were better off if someone weighted them down and dropped them into the ocean. Just sayin'.

But they sure had a lot to say about pride and greed, no?

I think you would rather a person in your house that was a over eater or a person that was a arrogant slob than a pedophile, no?

Honestly, it would depend on the person.

Which is beside the point. Just because someone is silent or inconsistent on some other topic, does not mean they're wrong about the topic under discussion. Frankly, the constant changes of subject away from sexual sins to other sins such as overeating are a) boring; and b) starting to look like deflections.

Odd...your appeal was that the red letters specifically condemned pedophilia. Kind of hard to see how the fact that those red letters condemn the other actions many, many times is "beside the point".

Aaannnnd there you go again.

I wish you were right Long Gone... but pedophilia IS being seriously promoted by many today.

Victimization of children has been and continues to be redefined as "needs" for some time now. In 2008 a writer on sexuality suggests that parents may give permission for their children to be engaged in sex with adults.

Pedophilia is no longer being treated as a deviant evil. It is now a "disorder."

I respectfully disagree.  Whether one want to call it a deviant evil or a disorder there is agreement that people who commit these crimes belong in prison.  Any promotion of pedophilia is generally by those who have those desires. I based this on working in Human Services for 28 years. This is an area dominated by political liberals...I never saw any desire not to protect children from pedophiles.  I am sure there are exceptions to this but this is the view that dominated. I am not sure what you are defining as "many".

The times are quickly changing.

You mean the pedophile?

I mean All of the Above.

With an answer like this there is no reason for anyone to go any further with rsc2a in this discussion.

So, you'd just as soon have a pedophile babysit your kids as some fat guy who is filled with pride?!  :o

Yes that is what u said.

English must be your second language because "a person in your house" doesn't mean "babysit your kids".

:-) it's all the same when it comes to my kids.

But hey, each his own I guess.

No. Those mean different things. In short, you were lying.

No, he isn't lying.
I assumed the same thing, based on your initial post.
I will concede that your further post, parsing your statement, sheds light on what you meant to say.
You consistently use this tactic (making vague statements and then parsing what the meaning of is, is).
It makes it tedious to interact with you.

Just FWIW.

There are no vague statements. No where had I mentioned babysitting.
