Ironically, the feminists haven?t seemed concerned about the power inequities and painful abuses suffered by women in a ?Fifty-Shades? culture. Strangely, too, the church has remained relatively silent in the face of a sea-change in cultural norms, making it acceptable to abuse, degrade, and demean women, destroy relationships, undermine marriage and family. A content analysis of fifty best-selling adult videos, described in The Social Costs of Pornography, showed overwhelming inequality and violence ? 88 percent showed physical aggression with 70 percent of those acts committed against women and only 5 percent of those women are depicted as showing any negative response to the violence.

...

In 2014, an evangelical group, Proven Men Ministries, commissioned a study by the Barna Group to look at the use of pornography among self-identified Christian adult men. The findings for 18 to 30 year olds are shocking ? 77 percent view porn at least monthly, 36 percent view porn at least daily, and 32 percent consider themselves to be ?addicted.? Among middle-aged men (31-49), 77 percent looked at porn in the past 3 months and 67 percent viewed porn at least monthly.

Thoughts?  I think there are a lot of factors involved here.  Not a simple problem.

If the actresses in those movies would stop wearing yoga pants the guys would quit watching them. 8)

Ted Cruz has one.... :)

He produced an ad staring a former soft core porn star.

1. It is spelled starring (unless Freud showed up yet again).

B. Her's was one part of many in the ad.

3. She answered a casting call. It wasn't like they were putting her in the ad for a named endorsement.

D. How many commercials on the air have actors and actresses that have had questionable roles in their careers?

5. She was hired because she's pretty. How many campaign ads have ugly people in them?

F. Because she is pretty, someone googled her.

7. At least she wasn't wearing yoga pants in the ad.

:)

I did write staring. I'm SO SORRY!

I was actually defending her.

So while not defending Cruz, I would not have attacked Trump either.

I am curious about Trump's "course comments". I heard that he made some but do not know what he said.

Quick, what has she "starred" in; porn or otherwise? You had never even heard of her before this.

I hadn't but what difference does that make?

Can we at least say Ted Cruz is as good at vetting actresses as he'll be vetting Muslim refugees?

I think Ted missed a huge opportunity here when he pulled the ad.

He should start running the ad again, and when criticized, he should point out that she is a former soft porn actress, but she has put that life behind her. He should state, "She now trusts in Christ. If Christ can forgive her, how can I do no less?"

You'd think that would resonate with the Evangelicals in SC.

Nah, that would just make him look like a P**sy.  8)

I noticed that no one wanted to discuss the OP.  I have talked with people with this problem and usually they do not want to put a porn filter on their computer - which means they think too much of their sin  to mortify it.  If anyone is having difficulty with this I have "clean internet" (link below) on my computer and it is very helpful.  It can be frustrating at times (like when I went to buy guitar strings and it was blocked because the site mentioned a "G string") but those things that are blocked can be overridden if you ask them too.

and what exactly was the op?..... ???.... an article about men in american churches having a porn problem?........ or the way they sidestep addressing it by pointing out .... as evidenced by the specific paragraphs quoted.....  that feminists don;t seem to be concerned..... ..........

it seems there is always someone else to blame or give reason to rationalize......

maybe the op should have blamed the obsession some christian men have with porn with being exposed to too many immodest women walking around in public wearing "yoga" pants and "daisy dukes"..... they seem to love taking about that issue..... and obsessing over it.....

I was just quoting the article.  I don't care what feminists do or don't do.  But I don't think the author was shifting blame.  I've seen enough porn in my life to know that most of it is intentionally degrading to women.  That's probably why the author thinks it's odd that feminists aren't enraged by porn.  Or maybe they are and I'm just out of touch.
