Some neighbors from my childhood were from India (the kids were born in the U.S.). They would make a trip to India every year to visit family. My friend, one of the kids, told me that when they were there, they didn't have toilet paper. He would make his mom wipe him because he didn't want to use his own fingers ( I think this was when was about 12-13).
