Yeah, in addition to the good Dr Bob, there was Pastor Bob (later just Bob), was a good dude, except he was a Pittsburgh Stealer fan.I remember when there were two Bobs on here!

Not to be confused with pastor Bob Hayton, who briefly graced the forum, and was a graduate of our very own IFBx Fairhaven college.... there was Pastor Bob...
You're correct!! I have been in SEVERAL IFB and SBC churches in our area where there wasn't a quote from the Bible. Thank the good Lord we were just visiting there. We never went back to those specific churches. Friends tried to get me to go back to Franklin Road Baptist Church here in the Murfreesboro, Tennessee area, but it's far too big and STILTED for us to want to attend there again. We left that church because the Spanish service pastor, who didn't know that I could understand much of what he was saying, made a very derogatory statement about my wife. On the way out I told him, IN SPANISH, to shut his yap. I told Mike Norris, the pastor about this, and there was NO apology whatsoever from that pastor. And there wasn't one from Norris. I guess they're so big that they don't care if people leave because of their staff's bad behaviour.Finding a good church is difficult!!! Took us two years traveling... then two years when we found paradise.
Churches, conservative Baptist ones, rarely use the Bible for more than a postage stamp at tge beginning of a sermon.
Dr. Robert (Bob) Griffin is still alive and well. He's no longer a pastor in Wyoming. He retired and he and his bride moved back to Watertown, Wisconsin where his brother-in-law is/was associated with Maranatha Baptist University. I believe his SIL and daughter are on staff there as well. He's not been in good health for the past couple of years. I'm not sure if he still posts on the BaptistBoard or not. I don't go there anymore. It's become a three ring circus and was, at one time, very heavily moderated against certain people.I think I got along with everyone on here, I just couldn’t follow the rules and would get suspended all the time. Back then I was wasn’t sure if I was an agnostic or a Christian. But anyway, I don’t think I was on the forum for twenty years or so. I remember a Bob from Wyoming, he was really intelligent and nice.
We've been attending a church (off and on) that split off from the United Methodist Churches of America over their policies of allowing homosexuals to become preachers and women in pastoral roles. Our friend is a pastor of the one we go to now and again. One of our other friends just took one of those types of churches about a mile away. Believe me, he's twice divorced and has little Biblical education. I don't see how he got to be the pastor of the church except for the fact that the people want someone who won't preach anything but will ramble on and on about silly things. Anyhow....I'm really put out with the lack of discipleship and service in the things of the Lord.I understand how you feel. We’re in the process of church shopping right now. I think I’m permanently done with IFB churches. I might just be done with Baptist churches altogether.
Those 2 views would be a hard no for me attending any church servcieWe've been attending a church (off and on) that split off from the United Methodist Churches of America over their policies of allowing homosexuals to become preachers and women in pastoral roles. he still posts once in a while over there, and seems to be a very reasonable ChristianYou're correct!! My wife told me last night that she has absolutely NO DESIRE to be in church. She's tired of the "Christians" shooting their own....I don't blame her.
Thanks for the update. Glad to hear he’s still kicking.Dr. Robert (Bob) Griffin is still alive and well. He's no longer a pastor in Wyoming. Have you ever heard of Jon Moffitt (Grace Reformed Church, Spring Hill, TN)? He is former IFB and I have listened to him on his Theocast YouTube channel. I was thinking of checking him when I am able to get to the Nashville area and hopefully get my daughter in a good congregation! I try as a rule not to go to congregations that are strict "1689 Reformed" but if there is solid, exposistional teaching and preaching, this is what would be paramount for me.We've been attending a church (off and on) that split off from the United Methodist Churches of America over their policies of allowing homosexuals to become preachers and women in pastoral roles. I don't recall how far Spring Hill is from here, but I'll check on it. The one IFB church where a friend of ours attends has a HAC grad. My couple of interactions with him weren't fruitful...they were disappointing to say the least. He was just as hateful as I remember many of the HAC grads were. My wife told me again yesterday that the way the churches are falling away is disgusting, and she would rather stream someone like Allen Jackson on Saturday evenings. TBH, I'm ALMOST with her on those sentiments.Have you ever heard of Jon Moffitt (Grace Reformed Church, Spring Hill, TN)? He is former IFB and I have listened to him on his Theocast YouTube channel. If you have such "Yay-Hoos" as you are describing that are pastoring churches, perhaps I should just bite the bullet and find a Church to pastor after I graduate from Seminary this spring? Hadn't thought about it until now TBH but if that is what it takes to get my daughter into a good church... I still have at least 10-15 years left in me!
I'm all for extending kindness but TBH, all of the IFB Churches of the HAC (or similar) flavor would be completely off my radar! If I were in a town and the only churches in the area were either Catlick, Cultic, or pastored by HAC grads, I would become a reluctant church planter because there is serious need for a good church in that area and just skipping out of church or watching online is not an option! If I had the option of PCA Presbyterian or LCMS Lutheran, I would probably go this direction instead.I don't recall how far Spring Hill is from here, but I'll check on it.
