What are your feelings and thoughts?

I have to admit I was surprised that several people on FB that call themselves Christians seemed to have no problem with it.  It was even more disturbing that some of the young people thought it was just fine.

" Gay marriage is legal...ehh...whatever floats your boat. If God didn't destroy our nation for enslaving other humans, for our treatment of the poor, or for the murder of children, I doubt we'll see fire and brimstone. We do a fine job destroying ourselves.

Christians, if you want to have a real impact, worry more about how you are loving your neighbour and less about whether you agree with them. Love wins people, not judgment."

It proved that America is not Christian nor was meant to be.

This country is not a theocracy so its laws should not be based on any religious writ. This country was founded on the idea of civil liberties with justice for all, whether or not I agree with the choices others will take with those liberties. That being said, in the area of civil rights and fairness, I believe the right decision was made.

Now should the governement start mandating churches and pastors to marry gay couples, that crosses the rights of people with religious conviction and I would support the churches' and pastors' rights to refuse to marry gay couples.

I agree. Besides, why hasn't God destroyed Canada over the last 10 years for their legalization of same sex marriages?

Are you saying its over?

Let me remind of a verse you might accept. Paul didn't say it. ;)

Ecc 8:11  Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.

Seems like things are moving very fast in that direction but as time goes I believe it will get worse.

It is interesting to see things come together as the day approaches.

I have also been reminded that when Armagaden takes place the lost will KNOW who they are fighting against and this saddens me.

Well, because it's Canada. Why bother??

And historically, can you give an example where any country was destroyed by God due to same sex marriage? FYI, Sodom was destroyed because of their mistreatment of others and concerning their sexual proclivities, their rape/dominance over the visitors to their city. Plus, God promised to spare the city would there have been 10 righteous citizens.

So using history, biblical or otherwise, where has God sent judgement on a city solely because they passed a law allowing same sex marriage? I'm not aware of any but may be willing to do some research if you can provide a specific example.

Oh, and feel free to finish the Ecclesiastical passage:

Though a sinner does evil a hundred times and prolongs his life, yet I know that it will be well with those who fear God, because they fear before him.

We've dealt with this before. Sodom was destroyed for many sins. One of those sins was homosexuality. I know you want to deflect from this truth by pointing at their other sins. Sinners and SINS got together. There is never a single sin. Its always MORE.

Again. You're deflecting. Its not about a single sin. Its SINS. Even when the Scriptures deals with "SIN"... its in reference to MANY SINS. The entirety of SINS = SIN.

Oh, and feel free to finish the Ecclesiastical passage:

Though a sinner does evil a hundred times and prolongs his life, yet I know that it will be well with those who fear God, because they fear before him.

This is part of the discourse but I fail to see what you're implying from it.

It is a fact, that because SINS aren't immediately dealt with by God, Man thinks he's getting by with it. He isn't.

My reaction is... if it had happened a month earlier, my daughter would not have had to move to another state to get married.  I'm glad parents will no longer see their children treated as second class citizens by the state (sadly, they will still be treated as such by family, friends and churches).

In the Sodom account God did offer to spare the city if their were 10 righteous.  Of course, there were not.  I don't think a nation embracing homosexuality means that God will destroy them immediately.  I believe it is more about the number of righteous people.  What is God's number on Canada?  What is America's number?  I don't know.  When wickedness like this is embraced you know the percentages aren't going the right direction.

Did you believe this way before your daughter announced her decision?

No.

Care to expound?

Is Joel Osteen a more faithful man of God than the quiet country pastor who has served his tiny congregation with sweat, blood and tears for decades?

Yes.  My beliefs on homosexuality changed decades ago,  as did my beliefs on a lot of things I was taught were "sin" growing up at FBC.  When my daughter told me she was gay, the whole issue just became a lot more important and personal to me, and I've become more outspoken about what I already believed.

For all of her life, my daughter chose to attend a Baptist church, private Christian high school and Bible college.  The only heartbreak for me in her "coming out" was seeing the way society in general, and Christians especially, treat her now.
