My thoughts on this situation.

Back when he was a candidate for President, Trump he made the mistake of not knowing the history of P.O.W's, of military POW's & specifically John McCain when he was a POW for years of Vietnam and belittling the fact that he had become a POW in an off the wall & unwise remark. I think that McCain never got over those hurt feelings and has since been out to go against anything that Trump put forward. Though I am a Trump supporter now, I think one of his failings maybe that he has not apologized to McCain. Now since learning about the importance of the military, the history of the military and now getting behind the military  he still has not made things right with McCain,

McCain should have retired years ago but I think he's still harboring a grudge against  Trump & now he's done the wrong thing for the American public when he could have done the right thing and all over a petty grudge. This was done after campaigning to repeal & replace Obamacare.

IMO....McCain has in an act of vengeance, smeared his own good name among conservatives who put him forth as a candidate for the very office Trump won.

The funny part is if three Democrats had stopped Obamacare you would have hailed them as heroes. Every Representative and Senator should vote their conscience. The idea you must align with the party even when you believe it is wrong doesn't make sense.

McCain ran for re-election on repealing Obamacare...as did Murkowski, who has written multiple op-eds denouncing ACA. They both voted for repeal in 2016...when they knew it would be vetoed. Like Obama and the Dems, they are liars and hypocrites on this issue.

Incorrect, they are for the repeal - just not the method, btw where were you when Rand Paul and Cruz were about to vote against the other "repeal" bill

The so called 'skinny repeal' bill included exactly what they have both claimed they wanted in the past...when they simply used the issue for political cover.
And,I'm not in the habit of protesting 'about to vote' instances.  ;)

They included what they wanted but the way the bill was manufactured by McConnell was not a method these senators, specifically McCain, liked. By the way, McConnell should be replaced as the Senate Majority Leader.

Sorry, but there is NO excuse for someone who publicly railed against the bill, campaigned on a complete repeal, and voted against repeal when they knew it would be vetoed to vote no on the 'skinny repeal' bill.
I'm good with his being replaced.

Now just a minute there, did you hear his speech on the day he voted to proceed with the debate on the bill? He was very critical of it and of McConnell.

I also heard his repeal rhetoric on the campaign trail when he was in a very tight race. Like Obama, you can't believe what he says. This episode simply illustrates that he is what his critics have said about him in the past.

But he was consistent that he would not vote on a bill that was created in this method. McConnell should have taken that warning seriously, hence the reason McCain had a staredown with McConnell prior to his "thumbs-down".

McCain indicated initially he would support skinny repeal, because it gave him what he said he wanted, even though it was temporary. But the key to skinny repeal was that it sent the bill back for House-Senate reconciliation...something else McCain said he wanted.

IMO, no matter how you slice it, McCain was hypocritical and disingenuous...

I had no idea you had the spiritual gift of reading minds, especially mine.

When considering McCain................follow the money. He got paid off to breach his campaign promise. Typical politician.

Wow...don't be so sensitive. I was referring to Republicans in general not you specifically.  Interesting though you never on the statement just diverted the observation by calling me a mind reader.

So far you have said the McCain voted against it because he was hurt by Trump and then you claimed he got paid off. Since you can't read McCain's mind you really can't state either of those as being anything more than your bias opinion.

I love how the right wing talking heads are complaining that the Dems won't work with them on a new plan! All of the sudden they are for bipartisanship

Live by the mono-bloc die by the mono-bloc.

Obama and his socialist liberal democrats deliberately and strategically lied to get Obummercare passed. Trump has yet to do anything with or to healthcare.

It must get tiring defending the idiocy that is liberalism

What part of Trump saying No one will lose coverage. There will be insurance for everyone. Healthcare will be a lot less expensive for everyone-the government, consumers, providers is not a lie?

I am not a liberal but it is never tiring to defend what is truth and right. To me your President and party would be embarrassing to defend. But I guess defending them is just like grabbing the private parts ::)

No, it doesn't. In fact it helps prove his hypocrisy...he continually says one thing but his continual actions don't match his verbiage.

Don't forget to include Trump who promised No one will lose coverage. There will be insurance for everyone. Healthcare will be a "lot less expensive for everyone-the government, consumers, providers.

Obama and his socialist liberal democrats deliberately and strategically lied to get Obummercare passed. Trump has yet to do anything with or to healthcare.

It must get tiring defending the idiocy that is liberalism

Which McCain pointed out! This proves McCain isn't hypocritical.

No, it doesn't. In fact it helps prove his hypocrisy...he continually says one thing but his continual actions don't match his verbiage.

You can be for repeal and replace but want the replacement to be better than what we currently have.  If I want to replace my car that doesn't mean I want to replace it with an older car with more miles and less options.

A few days ago Tucker Carlson or Hannity (not sure which) did an interview with Vice President Pence in which they asked Pence why Trump didn't abolish the rule that Congress is exempt from the same rules of Obamacare that the American people are under.  Pence didn't give a direct answer but implied that the President had that authority.  If so President Trump should immediately do that.  If congress worked and lived under the same rules we have to then many things we have to put up with would vanish immediately.

McCain would have the same insurance  "options" as the rest of us?!?!

Anyone know if Sen. McCain is using a VA hospital for his cancer treatments?

Uh....no.....I'm "sure" he tried to get in.  But the Mayo hospital in Scottsdale somehow had room for him.

Repeal. Why would anyone in their right mind* want another gubmit program?!

*this obviously excludes most socialist liberal democrat voters.

Does that mean you won't be taking Social Security or Medicare since why would anyone in their right mind want another government program?  Shame you didn't take advantage of the government program of public education and learned how to spell government 8)
