How does an atheist give a testimony of salvation to join a church?  What kind of "church" is this?

If we can get Ransom to quit acting like a baby, and quit locking my threads, I'll start another thread and tell you all about it.

Just tell us on this thread.

Why not?

Basically, I visited the church one Sunday.  The church is located about five minutes from my house.  Of course I was asked by several of the members who I was, what I did, so on and so forth.  I mentioned that I had taught public high school.  The principal was nearby and indicated that they had a need for help with their high school math.  I agreed to stop by and help out a couple of students.  Eventually they offered me a job.  I accepted.  I eventually joined the church by simply stepping out during an invitation, and saying "I would like to join your church."

I was never asked to give my testimony.  I did ask if they had prayed about hiring me.  They said they had.  "Don't you want to do a background check; after all you don't even know me," I asked.  "We trust the Lord," was their response.

So you see?  They did everything the wrong way, yet it is a good thing they did.  Or a child molester would still be operating among them.

He wants to get glory from a tragic situation from people he never met. What good comes from that?

I knew from the beginning that there would be scoffers like you who would accuse me of self-aggrandizement.  I cannot help that.

But to be clear:  the purpose of my posting about this is to point out the hypocrisy of the notion that unless you are a Christian you cannot do the right thing because you do not have an objective reason to do so.

Mentioning it once is fine. Reminding us thread after thread proves your purpose. It has nothing to do with a supposed hypocrisy among the rest of us.

All I did was ask start a thread with a question: "What is mankind's moral compass?"

From that, other than the exchanges you and I had, which I thought were respectful, the thread was trolled; and Ransom began a series of petulant rants, locking my threads.  I was trying to start what I thought would be an intelligent, informal debate.  It turns out that you have proved to be as petulant as Ransom.

The fact is that no matter what I post or no matter what my position on any topic, the majority of those who post on this forum have an ingrained prejudice toward me, and that includes the admins of this site.

I say that you are hypocritical, petulant, children.  Do what you will.

Are you finished aggrandizing yourself on this thread? Can I lock it if you're going to go start yet another one?

Since you are obviously unable to moderate yourself, let me help you.

You know without a shadow of a doubt what Baptist membership entails.  Your "morality"/character is sadly lacking as demonstrated by such duplicity and deception.

Ransom; FSSL:

Answer me this honestly:

Would you prefer that I go away -- never post or comment on this forum again?  If you respond in the affirmative, then this will be the last time you will ever see me logged on.

In that respect you are correct in a way.  No one every asked me to testify or anything like that.  If they had, and if I had testified, then without a doubt that would have been hypocritical on my part.  Just being a member of the group, however -- what would be wrong with that?

They were gullible/stupid, and you deceived them by asking for membership despite being an avowed and unabashed atheist.  I've said it early on in this drama, that you were right to turn the molester in to the po-po, but you didn't solicit membership for that purpose.

You knew you wouldn't have been hired.

Money motivated you to be a fraud. But that's fine in your world.

Church is all I have ever known, ALAYMAN.  I am not the typical beer-drinking, carousing, pot-smoking, devil-worshipping "atheist" most people think of.  I read and study the Bible extensively.  In that church I played the piano, the organ, and sang in the choir; sang specials.  What did I do that was so bad?  I saw a man misbehaving toward children and put my foot on his neck.  I didn't consider any belief-system when I did it.

The measure of a man's character is not what he believes; it is what he does.  The measure of a man's morals is not he believes; but how he behaves.

Dude, you don't know anything.  I didn't need the job, but I like to teach.  Most of my adult life I was a software developer.  I made more money in a couple months than the church paid me in a year.  I had taken some time off to stay at home and care for an invalid loved one.  The school was close.  I only had to work for about four hours a day.  So I said, "Why not?"  Besides, they asked me -- not the other way around.  They needed me more than I needed them.

Do they now know of your deception?

Why is everybody so concerned about me?  What about the cowardice of the leadership of the church who allowed a grown man to prey upon innocent girls?

There is not a bone of manhood among any of you.  Cowards all!
