Mr. Jones stated "he did not let their problems become my problems"

He basically said he did not arrest them, try them or refuse their appeal. That was for other to decide. He said I treated them in such a way that I could look them in the eye when the time came. It sound like he treated them with dignity. He said afterwards he always want to know he did everything he could to see that their case was as perfect as it could be.

Not sure how effective the death penalty is as a deterrent. So many never think of the consequences of their actions States with no death penalty seem to have just as high rates of capital crime as others. One thing is for sure, those who are executed never commit another violent crime.

I think there must be multiple forms of evidence of guilt before someone is put to death. Testimony alone should never meet the standard for execution.

Spending per prisoner varies widely across states, from about $18,000 per prisoner in Mississippi to $135,978 per prisoner in Wyoming in 2020. States spent an average of $45,771 per prisoner for the year. Source:HG.org legal resource site. Some sources say with mandatory appeals and legal expenses it cost even more to put someone to death.

Several articles state we spend over 80 billion dollars a year to house inmates in this country.
