Team Peru

I was on the original Team Peru. Although I didn't last long as I was unwilling to follow a man blindly.
While my condolences go out to the family I can honestly say that Dan's fall is not surprising. He followed the history of FHBC leaders in his authoritarian manners demanding blind devotion.
While he could show an outward appearance of piety and humbleness, he was very self righteous.
The levels of corruption (especially sexual and financial) with FBMI and FBCH at first startled me as I was an outsider who got a front row seat.
While my faith in God has never changed, my views on Baptist polity and the ideas behind some of the more extreme views of the IFB movement definitely has changed.
The setting up of men on pedestals who wield exclusive authority has done almost irreversible damage to many believers.

Dan died of his cancer a year ago. It was an agonizing death. Very sad, but his oldest son attens Pensacola.
