There is one truth that is universal:  You can't manufacture revival.

There is an attitude among the tent goers that the non tent goers are less than spiritual or spiritually discerning. How could we not attend this modern day Pentecost!?

I had a younger Pastor in the area talk with me last week about a couple of folks in his church criticizing him for his lack of support. There was a tad of that last year, but nothing like it is now.

I guess one of the marks of true revival is causing discord among the brethren.

There is an attitude among the tent goers that the non tent goers are less than spiritual or spiritually discerning. How could we not attend this modern day Pentecost!?

I had a younger Pastor in the area talk with me last week about a couple of folks in his church criticizing him for his lack of support. There was a tad of that last year, but nothing like it is now.

I guess one of the marks of true revival is causing discord among the brethren.
Who knew?

This is sad but kind of funny. I read quite a few of the ifb bretheren's facebook pages and twitter feeds. Some think it is great. Others say it is sensual and worldly with worldly music yadda yadda yadda. Which is why there NEVER will be a true national revival. Most won't recognize it or criticize. If it does not include speaking in tongues then a lot of the pentecostal bretheren will turn up their noses. Revival just aint what it used to be!

The music is country-ish and Southern Gospel but I don't see how anything associated with this meeting can be called sensual. To me, it's simply a matter of culture, taste and to some degree methodological principle.
The music is not my cup of tea, the preaching has a huge AND-UH after each or most sentences. It is very animated and emotional. The appeal at the invitation is usually an emotional appeal as well.

I chose not to officially participate but did mention it in our services Sunday.

I can help you to understand here. I know you were not raised in extreme ifb ism. The thing is , you have to be against a lot of stuff that other Christians are doing or you are not right with God. So, the thing to do and especially if you can't put your finger on something is to throw it in the 'worldly' box.

Balaam nailed it. Southern Gospel is accepted by many IFBs and viewed as worldly music by other IFBs.

While the meeting has not approached the scope of last year's revival (so far at least), they have decided to extend the meeting another week.
Friday night is Youth Night and they are expecting a huge crowd, last year they approached 5000 on YN.
This year's meeting hasn't been 'shabby' by any measure...they have averaged about 1500 per night.

This accurate update was provided by a participating pastor over breakfast this AM.

The meeting officially ended last night.
One reason, according to some who were regulars, was the lack of financial support. I wouldn't have thought that would have been a problem. Although it was a good meeting, it just didn't approach the scope of last year's 'revival'.

TB may not have been raised in extreme ifbism. But he cut his teeth working for an extreme IBF preacher.
