The Grammys: The day the culture died?

And your point is well taken....but that doesn't mean we are wrong to offer social commentary.

Unfortunately, it is a personality quirk of mine that I tend to be a problem solver. Most of the time I don't like hearing complaint when there is no resolution or help for another. Not saying social commentary is wrong, I just don't see it as being helpful. But like I said, it is a personal preference on my part. :)

Even Paul agrees with your point....
1 Corinthians 5:12-13 (ESV)
For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside. “Purge the evil person from among you.”

And what did Jesus teach in His parable of wheat and tares?

What the "tares" did at the Grammys.... would have gotten them arrested not too many years ago. Again, its only a matter of degree with you.

These same tares could kill, rape, pillage, cheat, steal, lie and etc...... and you'd have plenty to say about it. Your "personal preference" only goes so far. The line of "tolerance" has been moved. You know it has.

Wrong parable. In the tares and wheat parable, the tares were sown among the wheat (God's people). The scenario you present is more-or-less darkness that needs light to shine into it.

FYI, Jesus DID mention church discipline so there IS a point where we are to deal with it. However, God has the final judgement.

Paul was speaking of church discipline which has a goal of restoration, so I don't think the wheat and tares comparison is completely accurate.....hermeneutically speaking.

TB - I was mistaken as to what SC was referring to. I apologize.

Does anyone have any good recipes for crow?

I think SC pointed out, accurately and diplomatically :), that the culture is made up of individuals and IMO, the command of the Great Commission is to reach individuals while we live within the culture. Being in the world but not of the world is sometimes not 'black and white'.  :)

You are probably right. I would suspect they are talking about two different kinds of churches (assemblies) but that is another argument for another day. ;)

Come back Chris!  :)

So then, let it be known, YOU'RE the one to blame for this re-infestation.

Thanks for the warm reception, but you're the one that ought to also be equally blamed for this ant crashing the picnic. ;)

And just where do you get off calling me a stinkin' "moderate"? >:(
