The Haunted Woods, Lighthouse, Mansion...You Name It

There are many who report hauntings after dabbling in the occult. And the manifestations take on remarkable similarities across cultures and generations: shadow men, talking beasts, etc.

Do you (collective 'you') think that would suggest a genuine phenomenon, or are you inclined to believe that folks are simply having the same dream?

What is less widely reported is of those who are delivered from their torments by calling on the name of Jesus.

My sister and I started performing tarot readings for each other. It was so addictive, like eating potato chips. Throughout my teens, I delved into other divination tools like numerology charts, astrology charts, angel cards, and runes.

But the further I went down that road, the more it seemed demons were surrounding me. At the time, I wouldn’t have known to call them demons, but I experienced so many moments of fear. I felt them touching me, and I could see them manifesting as shadowy figures, animals, and what looked like human beings.

...

I lived in constant fear of bad spirits and what they would do to me. In my mid-30s, at a moment of especially intense fear, I suddenly cried out the name of Jesus Christ. Not my spirit guide or a deceased person or an angel—Jesus!

Connie's testimony at 19:15, 28:54, 43:24, 1:09:00

Connie: I learned very late in my life that the name of Jesus has power, and that's how I became a Christian.

Interviewer: Do you not believe in the Wikipedia definition of sleep paralysis?

Connie: No, that would be sort of like the...I guess the...the worldly term?

Interviewer: Uh huh.

Connie: Like what people would deem as something that's a physiological response, that it's like a natural thing that happens with the body? But I don't think that's true. I do think that it's something to do with the spiritual realm. And it's closely tied with...possibly...demonic activity.

Chris, at 51:24 in the same documentary:

I immediately stopped being an atheist.

I believe much of it is demonic, and that includes the “alien encounters.”

Psalm 91 is thematically tied to Psalm 151 of the Septuagint, which was identified in the Dead Sea Scrolls as one of the Psalms that David wrote to be performed over the possessed...the tormented, rather.

The fifth and sixth verses contain references to Ancient Near East demons.

Psa 91:1-6 – (1) He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. (2) I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. (3) Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. (4) He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. (5) Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; (6) Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

The Terror by Night = Lilit, a nighttime demon
The Arrow that Flieth by Day = Reseph, a daytime demon
The Pestilence = Deber
The Destruction = Ketev

His Truth shall be our shield and buckler vs. 4. Calling on His Name, as cited above, or even reciting Scripture, these terrors are resisted.

Now a bit of trivia...

Disney's Haunted Mansion. The ride, not one of the movies.

I'm not sure they made the connection...but a seance is performed at one point in the ride...and at the end of the ride, a ghost follows you home.

I had an abridged version of the story that was released on the flip side of this record. It was a birthday present from my Aunt. Ever since I got it, I've wanted to go on that ride. I'm making plans to do so. It's just a good time to visit LA right now.

Btw, the witch's broom's name in the first story is Beelzebub, which is the real name of a real demon.

But, have you ever wondered how or why it is that we can make these things all fun and games?
