Id like to get some feedback from some in the KJVO camp on the MEV.

Anybody entrenched in the KJVO camp is going to consider the MEV, and any other version for that matter, a perversion.

Since it is from the TR, I would think it would pass muster with them.
IF they actually believe what they say they believe about the other manuscripts.

You are absolutely 100% correct!  After I got caught up in Ruckmanism as a young Christian in the military I actually went so far as to buy another Bible and cut the paragraph marks out to paste them into my Schofield Study Bible.  If Saviour was spelled  Savior (only six letters) in one edition that was considered bad enough to not buy it.  If "throughly" was spelled "thoroughly" that was a "compromise."  Some King James Onlyist are so fanatical that they will only buy a Cambridge edition because it was considered more "standard" than Oxford.  I could go on and on.  Its nuts!

Good point. I hadn't thought about that.

How could they? Virtually none of them have the training or understanding to even read, let alone evaluate, those manuscripts. I never met a KJV-onlyist who didn't fall back on operational Ruckmanism.

In 2000, there was an attempt to do a similar update.... KJV2000. In fact, it stuck with the KJV and only sought to update the ye's and thee's

It was landblasted by the KJVOs. So, "no," the KJVOs will just reject any new update. In fact, they cannot decide which KJV is the right one. It makes for a great study in "divisions" and "quarrels."

What I have learned about the KJVOs is that the doctrine of the Trinity and allowance of charismatic propaganda is superseded by a particular KJV edition.

Since the NKJV is from the TR what would be the difference?

Nothing, NKJV and KJV are perfectly fine.

I assume the KJVO's think posting would be akin to casting their pearls before swine. I can somewhat understand that, but I am very sincere in my question.

"Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To the refugees scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia"

refugees?

Something to do with UN sanctions and Fuller Theological Seminary SJW translators.

He's writing to Christians of Jewish descent, who lived in Jewish settlements in Asia Minor that were established by Jews forced out of Judaea by the Roman conquest in 63 BC. Literally "exiles of the Diaspora," so yeah, "refugees" is probably a fair modern equivalent.

The Jews 'scattered abroad' were indeed refugees in every sense of the word.

"Thee" and "thou" and "ye" and "you" are actually very helpful in determining the difference between second person singular and second person plural.  These words were already obsolete by KJV time, but they were deliberately inserted.

I looked at some of the MEV; I prefer "only begotten Son" as a description of Jesus (as opposed to "one and only Son") - through salvation, we are adopted sons and daughters, and to imply otherwise isn't good.  I am an adopted son; Jesus was the only begotten Son.

I don't see the benefit of retaining "believeth" over "believes" - I like those changes.

Think I'll go with Miles Smith, one of the final editors of the 1611 version when he quoted Augustine, "Variety of translations is profitable for finding out the sense of the Scriptures." More translations are better than fewer.
