The Sin of Sodom

Offering one's own virgin daughters is wicked, sick, without natural affection but anything but "lack of hospitality"(in the middle east)...not sure how that case could be made.

When I read about Lot, Sodom ... etc ... I always am amazed at the grace God gave Lot. He could have left him there to die ....

Yes, I know these Scriptures. Do you know this one?

Ezekiel 16:48-50
King James Version (KJV)

48 As I live, saith the Lord God, Sodom thy sister hath not done, she nor her daughters, as thou hast done, thou and thy daughters.

49 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.

50 And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good.

What do you think this passage says about the condemnation of Sodom?  Specifically, do you think that this passage somehow negates that the passage about Lot and the angels is a condemnation of sexual perversion?

No, that's not my point at all. This passage does not negate the other one. My point is simply that there isn't just one THE sin of Sodom, because Sodom was guilty of many sins, and at least according to Ezekiel, some of those other sins were also significant in the decision to destroy it.

Well yes there were other sins which Sodom and Gomorrah were guilty of. But there was a specific sin in those cities that was described as being very grievous (See Gen. 18:20). And notice how the men of Sodom are described in Genesis 13.

13 But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly. - Genesis 13:13 (Holy Bible)

And Bryan Denlinger was addressing the Sin of sodomy. Which was the sin that was very grievous and was the main reason why both Sodom and Gomorrah were condemned with an overthrow and were destroyed with fire and brimstone.

6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;
7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:
8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)
9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished: - 2 Peter 2:6-10 (Holy Bible)

I think it is a pretty good picture of modern America. Nothing new under the sun and all.

And no, it does not minimize the sinfulness shown in the desire of the men of Sodom to rape Lot's guests.

Liberals are a creative bunch, especially the pro-sodomy bunch, to the point of saying things like "Jesus never said one thing while he walked the earth about homosexuality".

On a side note, Jesus loved and reached sinners of all types. Those who seem to be "burdened" for a particular type of sinner or always preaching on a particular sin, usually have tendencies in that direction.

That's a probing question.
