Thanks Admin, that was wise.

However, I took me a long time to type that response to Biker and now it is gone. That bums me out!  ;)

I can't help but wonder if he had another camp on his mind and was confused ....

Sorry... I didn't want to take the time to sift through the good and bad.

Biker is warned and he is not to revive that inflammatory sig line.

Yeah, I understand and was just joking. It was far better to remove the whole thing for the reasons .tim stated.

But, if this forum were a Republic, I would cast my vote that Biker be banned.  :)

Could be but who really wants to know what is on his mind?  ;)

And, yes, he is confused.

I have not gone to the Wilds. I hear that they do a great job. As an IFB camp, they have a solid reputation.

My daughter went to FUGE. Not IFB, but she enjoyed all aspects.

I was a little hesitant to send my son to The Wilds. But, my pastor is a great guy and I trust his judgement - he said my son would be fine! So far, from what I have heard, my son had an great time. Just the fact he was there with his two best friends was reason enough to have fun!

Normally we just send the kids to a Mennonite Camp in PA. They are actually there this week! My poor son was exhausted when he got home Saturday from The Wilds, and then we had to get him to the next camp Sunday. But, once he got to the campgrounds he regain his strength and made one observation, "Nature looks less disturbed here than at the Wilds ..." .... probably a little true since the Wilds has more traffic.

But, I would love to see one of those waterfalls at The Wilds up close .... looks amazing!

I am very familiar with many Christian camps, and The Wilds in particular.  None are perfect; many are exemplary.  The Wilds is one of those exemplary ones.

If there is an elephant in the room it does no one any good not to call it an elephant.  Biker was the elephant in the room before the thread was deleted.  Let me leave no doubt, however, that he and others like him that openly slander those serving the body of Christ in ministries such as The Wilds through his baseless innuendo, insinuation, or outright attacks is nothing short of evil action springing from evil intent.  In a church setting he absolutely should be confronted and dealt with as the divisive heretic (in the Galatians sense) that he proved himself to be.  I absolutely refuse to sit idly by while one such as he attacks without merit the intent of those with whom I have laughed with, cried with, and served together with and of whom I know to be honorable men who love Christ and His Gospel and who hate sin, especially those sins of which he was making open allegations. I submit this open rebuke "...because he was to be blamed."

Didn't Ron Hamilton (Patch the Pirate) used to work at the Wilds?
We're heading to camp...Willow Valley Mission Ministries...next week.  Looking forward to it!
My wife went to the Wilds when she was young, she absolutely loved it!

My kids call the wilds the "cheerleading" camp. But they like the other activities they do. My youngest will go for the last time this year! He is looking forward to it

Well said, Anchor and may I add my voice to yours by saying "Amen".

The Wilds is indeed an exemplary camp. I have sent many teenagers to it over the years, including my own sons, and have received nothing but excellent reports about it. And to give some context for my conclusion, I have been to and participated in many Christian camps since 1977 such as the Glen Iris Baptist Camp, Bill Rice Ranch, Trinity Youth Camp (Keystone Heights), Word of Life and the Wilds. The Wilds ranks on the top of the list.

My son did mention, and performed, many cheers ....

I'm kind of partial to Forest Home and Hume Lake. Good evangelical CA camps, the former a touchstone for Billy Graham in his early life .  :)

As a young teen, I would attend Lake Lundgren Bible Camp in Pembine, Wisconsin! Loved it. All my brothers and sisters were able to go. Awesome time!!

My second son attended Maranatha and one of the things that amazed me when we visited up there was the number of Christian camps that were in in that part of the country (Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, etc.) of which I had never heard.

Lake Lundgren has been around a long time. My church supported it as a mission. Before the summer we would go up and do a work day, and often times older mothers would volunteer to work in the kitchen. Dont know if I could handle the cold weather any more! :) Really was kind of rustic. It was always the highlight of my summer. At the age of 11, I got saved there.

As I mentioned earlier I am familiar with many camps.  Never get tired of hearing this testimony, which I have heard many, many times.  There are some bad apples for sure, but there are many that the Lord is using to reach young lives with the Gospel.  Appreciate your testimony.

Our kids have loved camp.  Only one kid went to The Wilds with a friend from another church.  A few have been to Bill Rice Ranch, but the one they seem to love the most is Indian Creek Baptist Camp.  There are always testimonies when they return, but what I notice is  the real change in some of the teens.

Camp was a real highlight as a kid for me as well. I have to say my IFB church (the one of the BBFI persuasion...NOT the X'er persuasion one!) had a really good camp. A member of the church bought a bar and grill with about 10 cabins up in the mountains close to a beautiful waterfall. It was a perfect setup and the bar itself was great. It was the old-fashion kind with a long bar and a slide you could slide your milk down to the other end....LOL.

The camp was only used by our church and was kept in good condition. It had a pool and a nice chapel. The rules weren't crazy. Everyone could use the pool at the same time and girls could wear pants if not shorts. Many, many fond memories.  I guess I was always a little frustrated with myself that invariably you would have that "camp high" and you were gonna be the best kid ever or be a missionary or preacher and then in a few days everything was back to normal. It took a long time before I learned to understand and direct that frustration more appropriately.

Do you mean Patchy the Pirate?  That was Tom Kenny (voice of Spongebob and many others).
