The Worthless Thread for Specifically Increasing Post Numbers

We get a few species of owls around here; I've seen great horned and barn owls. I hear western screech owls but have never seen one.

we only have one owl native to hawaii.... .(or at least considered native)...... the pueo... a short
eared owl mostly seen at night... .... i have never seen them in the rainforest though i have heard

them..... but there is one that lives close to the archery range that comes out at dusk and flies low
over the barrier ridges between the archery range and gun ranges.... .beautiful to see him flight...
. .. we;ve seen him dive down and catch mice there before...... 🦉.

no matter how far you want to go with a diving career...... whether it;s into combat diving or salvage and rigging...
... it all starts with basic dive training in a regular old swimming pool......🤿

here.... a marine recon candidate goes through the basics of handling dive gear in the water.... ..

(side note..... this step was as far as i ever got in my attempt to learn to scuba dive.... in fact i didn;t even make it as far as this person in the picture made it..... .the moment my head went under water while breathing on a regulator - severe panic set in and i had to be pulled from the water.... ..... it has happened every time i ever tried it........ .... kind of embarassing when you consider i live in a family of divers - including a commercial hard hat deep salvage diver)

So that woman is a Marine Recon candidate?

That is not MY Marine Corps.

well..... what WAS your marine corps?......

were you in a recon unit?...... ..ever stationed in hawaii?....
As a matter of fact, I was stationed at Kaneohe Bay MCAS with Comm Supt Co attached to HQ in 76-77.

"Lady" Marines were rare and usually in Admin.
RECON was not for women. Good grief, even most MEN couldn't qualify in those days.
But then again: feminism was just starting their campaign to destroy Biblical norms...so there's that.
