The Worthless Thread for Specifically Increasing Post Numbers

"Raymond the Wolf passed away in his sleep one night from natural causes; his heart stopped beating when the three men who slipped into his bedroom stuck knives in it."--Jimmy Breslin, The Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight

I've not seen the movie. (At least it's got DeNiro in it, before he became famous!)

I read the novel it's based on when I was in high school and thought was a hoot, but that quote above is the only thing I ever distinctly remember about it. (Based on that, you may judge its literary merits for yourself...)

here are 2 pictures.. (shot from 2 different angles).. of an iron machine gun pillbox .... the u.s. military placed many of these on various pacific islands during world war 2 - in anticipation of beach assaults by the japanese.... .. ..but there are no documented cases of an attack occuring where one of these bunkers was placed.... ....

this picture ..(which is on the semi-restored pillbox at the fort derussy military museum - honolulu - shown below)..... shows how it was installed - with a piece of culvert/pipe underground leading to it;s entry port .... veterans of the war say this kind of post would have been a hot - stuffy - and miserable post to man...... and also a death trap if an attack came from anything bigger than small arms....... .....i just remember thinking it would have been a cool thing to play around in before they installed that steel grating over the entry ports.....
