We have many of those churches in our area....I just can't see the relevance of having these names...they're so "seeker" friendly! Those people are looking for someone to tickle their ears...they don't want the Word of God.
 
I'm a big fan of all the "Relevant" churches. Sure, we're relevant! It's right there in the name!

The emerging church may have submerged again, but their naming conventions are still above water.

naming a church after a man..... . putting the name of Christ on a sign or billboard and letting it fall into disrepair....

i wouldn;t mind seeing a "Breaking Wave Baptist Church" ...filled with surfers .. ..not that i would go there... ...but i would definitely take a picture......
..... but then knowing surfers... it would probably end up being called "Our Great Comfort in Christ and Cannibis Baptist Church"... or something
like that.... would probably have a giant pot leaf for a logo, on the door....... ... ..
