We are in a RV, in the direct path of Tropical Storm Karen. This will be our first experience with this, so we are cautiously excited.

I hope, if you are in the span of the track, you are safe!

Ransom... be prepared to handle everything on Saturday and Sunday! I could be without power.

Be more cautious than excited, please.  You're in a unique position in your ability to move you and yours out of the path of the storm.  Keep a close watch on the weather reports and be prepared to get out of Dodge.  Even in "just a tropical storm", the winds can get rather whippy.

Absolutely... we are gassed up and ready to move if need be!

We had friends who live in Tampa area they ran to Orlando where the hurricane Charlie hit..if this is your first hurricane you will not sleep until it passes.get to the store before the crowds do...I've witnessed fights...praying for you

Tropical storms are nothing but I have witnessed them to be worse than a hurricane...make the decision to move the RV before everyone else otherwise I will see you in a major traffic jam in a storm...also make sure you are in a cbs building that is cement block steel not wood framed which will blow down in the right wind pattern...I've lived in south Florida 30 years so ask me anything...

Thanks for the advice! Here is where we are located. It is dense brush. We have a lagoon on the other side of the brush. The people here told me that while the winds howl, the lagoon takes the brunt of the storm.

What do you think?

I just read several updates it could be 65-74 winds and that could bring trees and electric lines down.. do you have a building to seek shelter? Water, peanut butter crackers popcorn flashlight hurricane lamp battery powered are the best they light up a room.make sure you're not going to be flooded you're on high ground..praying my friend keep us posted

Yes. We have a couple of safe buildings.
We have trees around us, but not that could break and fall on us.
Here is my readiness list...
Chocolate ✔
Water ✔
Cat Food ✔
Chocolate ✔
Movie ✔
Propane ✔
Vehicles gassed up ✔
Chocolate ✔

I love that list one year I had everyone buying water and that was the storm that took the water system out...my husband says move because you could have a storm serge..which means the water can raise quickly... yes I forgot the howl of the wind ...let's think its only going to be a tropical that means some crazy winds and rain blowing sideways. But if its a hurricane make sure you're in building. Your cat is going to be scared so make sure they are in a cage with things they love. I'll be back if I've missed anything...

Has the lagoon ever flooded into where you're at? I just don't want you to deal with high water and snakes, alligators you get my picture...one year we saw a dolphin swimming in fresh water after a storm ...let's think positive and stay put if you have building to seek shelter you're safe...make sure the cat can come with you .....

Been in a few hurricanes here in South Florida. A trailer or RV is NOT the best place to be. If you are in a RV, you need to seek a more secure place.

What did you think of the tropical storm... sometimes they just wash out.. sometimes they surprise us...

We were in Florida panhandle all week.  Our original plans were to go this coming week, but those were altered to this past week a few weeks ago, so it worked out pretty well for us.

Patriotic,I'm glad you had a good time... 8)

I'm glad it wasn't anything .....one year we had a tropical blow through and the winds were bad we cancelled school. The rain was so bad ...It soaked my school room...I don't miss those days...

I think you should bait a hook and no matter what happens, keep it in the lagoon all the time. I would have a fishing pole going 24/7.
