Trump Links His Push for Greenland to Not Winning Nobel Peace Prize

Your TDS is showing. Next thing you will be saying that he is a despicable person. 😉
I’ll repeat myself, as you do regularly here, I’d STILL vote Trump today given the choice between him, Biden or Harris.

You have Trump-sessive compulsive disorder. 😉

Two wars with England, two World Wars, a Cold War, and a War on Terror, but now in 2026, Greenland is crucial to the U.S.'s national security?
we arbitrarily took control of greenland during world war 2 in the interest of u.s. security..... and that was with a solid arctic ice pack and in a world of advisaries that had very limited military capability compared to today.... ....
By treaty, the US is allowed to establish military bases on Greenland. There's no need to annex it to defend it.

that;s the way the treaty was worded.... and that;s what denmark brings up every time this question comes into focus... .. but it;s not the way it has been handled... up until now denmark has not honored it the way it;s worded .. and one of the biggest problems with treaties anyway is they can be easily broken ... violated... and even nullified by a future administration of either country.. ..and the next thing you know russia and china have bases in greenland instead of us..... ..

but with ownership comes permanancy - and also greater responsibility no matter who is in the white house.... .

By treaty, the US is allowed to establish military bases on Greenland. There's no need to annex it to defend it.
but that;s also the point.... we don;t want to have to commit u.s. forces and american lives to defend it..... and bases alone are no guarantee of security...... we had one of the biggest most advanced bases in the world in afghanistan.. ... and now the chinese occupy that base..... and the only reason the chinese are not currently sitting on midway... guam... or any one of a dozen small islands closer to us than that and building their own bases... is because we own those islands.....

Me: I am moving and need a truck.
Friend: I have a truck that you can use anytime. Here is a spare set of keys.
Me: Where is the title?
ok - mr smart guy.... ... lets say you borrow your friends truck to move .... maybe you even give him money to rent it. .. cash right out of your pocket.. ...

halfway into your move... as you are driving down the road with your belongs loaded up... he calls you and says he needs that truck back.... right now!... . doesn;t even want to give you time to unload it at your new house.... he tells you to dump everything beside the road and bring that truck back to him now... ... says he will call the police and report the truck stolen if you do not immediately comply...

what do you do then?.......

I tell him to pound sand because I stole the title before I left to get my stuff?

Sometimes I get the impression that you would argue with me if I said that the sky is blue.

well then - your thinking is right in line with the way you thought trump was going to act... .... .but he didn;t do that... did he?...... so what;s the big problem?....... he turned out to be better than you are....;)

Sometimes I get the impression that you would argue with me if I said that the sky is blue.
i;ve agreed with you on threads before... . but i don;t say it very often... coz ..like i told you before - due to the sanctimonious way you act .. and the history we have here .... my agreeing with you is not something i would give you the satisfaction of knowing... 😜

How is protecting Greenland like borrowing a truck? Denmark owes us something.
They owe us Greenland? Why?

And Mr. Trump isn't interested in protecting Greenland. He wants to have total control of it.

Sub's Friend: You don't need the title. You can borrow this truck for as long as you like, and do anything you want with it, but since I still own it, I will continue to pay for the insurance and maintenance. I'll give all that to you in writing.

Me: That's not good enough. This truck is of no use to me unless I have the title. Let me buy it.

Sub's Friend: Thanks, but no thanks. The truck is not for sale. My wife and family do not want me to sell.

Me: I have to have the truck, and I am going to get it one way or another, whether you like it or not. All options are on the table, including violence. Now are we going to do this the easy way or the hard way?

Sub's Friend: Uh, just what exactly do you have in mind?

Me: Wait and see.

[A few days later, I announce that because of my great negotiating skills, Sub's Friend has agreed to let me use his truck anyway I want, for as long as I want. Same deal that Sub's Friend was offering me all along, but now Sub's Friend and the rest of the world hate me and think I am nuts because of all the tantrums I threw].

That's probably the "art of the deal," or some such.

Assuming that, at some point in the future, Denmark agrees to sell us Greenland, how are we going to pay for it? Financial advisor Peter Schiff has given it some thought:

"But the only way to get around having to borrow the money to buy Greenland is to have the Federal Reserve print. And right now, you know, there’s a big battle going on between the White House and the Fed. And that may be solved by Trump appointing another yes man to run the Fed. But yes, if the Fed buys the bonds that the government has to sell to raise the money to buy Greenland, then that’s just going to create massive inflation in the United States and further suppress the purchasing power of the U.S. dollar."

Supposedly it will all be worth it for the rare earths, but everything I have read on the subject indicates that it will not be economically feasible to access the rare earths from Greenland at any time in the foreseeable future, since they can be obtained more cheaply and easily just about anywhere else on the planet. Greenland is going to be a literal "white elephant" that will bankrupt us if we do get it.

i never heard of peter schiff..... but to me he sounds like just another dread peddler trying to get his name into the news cycle.... nobody has even heard what a price for greenland would have been yet.. or what trumps plan would have been to buy it..... .but schiff is so certain we can;t afford it and will go bankrupt over it.... why didn;t he run for president?.......... ....the deal they appear to be making at davos won;t involve denmark selling greenland outright... but it will involve a permanent agreement on land use rights that denmark can;t waffle around on - like they have been doing on the old agreements.... .. specific details about it still have not been released yet......

I didn’t say that, but the US has been taken advantage of by these tiny socialist states long enough. So, we can put our missiles there for our own defense, which also benefits those under our wings.

The relationship should be more symbiotic.

I know that. Let me rephrase.

I didn’t say that, but the US has been taken advantage of by these tiny socialist states long enough. We have military bases there for our own defense, which also benefits those under our wings.
Then we go right back to the basic question of why all the saber rattling tough guy talk?

Unless I missed some major detail, the US is sitting in the same position as it was before Mr. Trump stirred up the whole thing.
