Trump now STRONGLY DEFENDS Bill Clinton

some of these guys really crack me up... ..... on one hand they try to compare a president to a pastor.... and then with the other they denounce christian nationalism and shun the idea of living in a theocracy...... ....they claim trump is not fit to be president no matter what his accomplishments are - because he is evil..... yet not one of them can name a candidate righteous enough to be worthy of their vote... and who would also be an effective president.. .....

Not a theocracy, no. But our rulers are still subject to God's laws and ought to be called to repentance, faith, and accountability to them.

The whole of Scripture, particularly Proverbs and implicitly Judges through 2 Chronicles, has more to say about the character of rulers than it does about pastors. As goes the king, so goes the country.

And the mission of the Church is to teach the nations, including their rulers, to obey all things that Christ has commanded.

Yet under the man who is characterized as the president with the most integrity in modern American history (Carter) we didn’t see that principle materialize.

In addition it is worth noting that not all philosophy proponents and ethicists think personal virtue is the most valuable or absolutely necessary asset to leadership effectiveness.

The country’s gone dude 😂 done stick a fork in it. No more morality in our government. Money and power rules the day.

But hey, ima keep voting republican no matter what. It’s gotta get better……if we keep voting republican.

You’re right.
It was soooo much better under Biden when the Democrats had the house snd the senate. 😏

This thinking really didn't pop up until they found Monica Lewinsky under Clinton's desk, then it was "CHARACTER MATTERS IN OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS".

"Character matters," perhaps not in so many words, originated with respect to Clinton during his 1992 campaign. He was seen as a draft dodger, and there were allegations of affairs back then as well (i.e. Gennifer Flowers). My pastor in university said it of Clinton before I graduated in 1997. The Lewinsky scandal didn't break until 1998--and even that was a spinoff of the Paula Jones scandal.

Sure, that particular scandal probably brought the idea to the foreground, but it wasn't new; the Lewinsky thing probably just proved his critics' point. Clinton was more scandal-ridden than any president since, excepting maybe Trump, though apart from the Stormy Daniels thing, which was admittedly a big one, he's been fairly free of personal scandal.

Yet, Clinton's approval jumped up and remained consistently around 70% by the time he left office, and Trump was around 40% last I checked. What that says to me is it's not necessarily about who has the best character, but who has the most charming personality.

The comparison was originally made in the form of a rationalization; "we aren't electing a pastor". Any comments I made regarding the comparison was to point out the weakness of the argument.

Explain again the weakness in stating that scripture gives moral qualifications for a Pastor but not a secular leader?

i hope all the people currently whining and complaining about trump realize that if the democrats take both houses of congress this coming november 2026 they will see a president hakeem jeffries take over the white house in january 2027... ..

with both house and senate dems will name jeffries speaker of the house and then run a double impeachment of both trump and vance through congress exactly the way they have been saying they would do since the day trump/vance was elected..... ..

then with jeffries to sign their bills they will start making the changes they wanted and tried to make during bidens admin to make sure no republican ever gets elected again....

some of you talk as if that;s exactly what you want..... but just wait until it happens and see how you like it then..... ...a vice president AOC .... secretary of state ilhan omar.... attorney general jasmine crockett... . all could be reality sooner than you think... ...all it would take is a few votes going the other way or a few more votes not happening at all.... .and there it is.... .
