Once again, our president publicly celebrates the death of a political enemy. It’s unnecessary, classless and disgusting.

I'd like to see the Venn diagram of a) people who condemn this statement of Trump's, and b) people who have approved of or celebrated the murder of Charlie Kirk.

I agree but I really wish that President Trump would be just a little more "Presidential" and stop feeding the "rage machine!"

Point taken.
Still wish he wasn’t so petty.
I’ll be glad when he’s off the forefront of our political stage…

I wish I could also see what the reaction would have been if Biden had come out and said he was glad one of his Republican political rivals was dead. I bet a few more people on this forum would have crawled out of their holes and been activated into meltdown mode. 😉

I’m sure my reaction would have been the same.

As I stated earlier, I will be happy when Trump moves off the forefront of our politics.

He often makes me cringe, per the subject of this thread.
Something that bothers me to no end is his constant selling off the Trump name….watches, Bibles, guitars, cologne, collectibles etc.
I do not understand his broad appeal other than the total insanity of the Democrat Party and the looney idiocy set forth in mainstream culture….trans etc. Trump stands up to such and holds his own in doing so.
If there steps forward someone with a modicum of humility and self awareness who also takes similar stands, he or she would be a huge success.

I would like someone who is not Donald Trump to be president who had the very same policies, philosophy, and (mostly) the same practices. I believe that you can do so while being diplomatic, unifying, and presidential.

I would like to think so, but I also think the well has been poisoned enough that "So-and-so is just like Trump" is going to go a long way to work against such a candidate.

I've seen it happen up here, where our Conservative leader, Pierre Polievre, has been branded "like Trump." And The Donald isn't even a direct political concern in Canada. It's just enough to be seen as superficially resembling him.

I doubt that stigma is going to go away in a hurry.

It sickens me that the only viable party who stands for common sense, and is able to tell a male from a female is frontend by a narcissistic loose canon.

Our politicians are a direct reflection of where we are as a society.

Excellent point. They’ve already started such a narrative about Vance.
And, it’s possible that if Trump had kept his mouth shut before your last election, Polievre may have won that election. Which goes to my greater point about Trump. He cannt keep his mouth closed even if it’s to his advantage to do so. And he literally has no filter and always gives his enemies bullets to fire at him.

Whoever the next conservative leader may be, surely they will be less bombastic and more diplomatic than Trump.

I'm sure that it was a 4D chess move that none of us can comprehend yet.
