My son is a senior this year and 2 months after he graduates will be in Marine boot camp. I’ve had hard discussions with him for the reasons we go to war these days. I’ve walked a fine line with my son.

Would you tell your son it’s a noble cause for him to be kicking doors down in Iran if he were to go into the military? Think about this…..your son.

I’m not asking for sympathy. But what I’m saying is, if it’s your own flesh and blood. Telling him this is as noble as WWII or the Civil War?

As soon as Iran obtains a nuclear weapon, they would be testing it on Israel. This is a cold hard fact. If Iran obtains nukes, there WILL BE a nuclear war in the future. You can count on it.

President Trump is doing good. I do not like the idea of "Regime Change" wars for the sake of regime change wars. The threat to our national security is real and our president acted. If they kick out the Caliphate and bring back democracy back to Iran, this is a bonus!

And it seems to me that the Iranian people are ready to capitalize on it. They may actually have a bright future if we can keep Russia and China out of the way and allow the Iranian people to choose their own destiny.

And it gives me a great deal of satisfaction knowing that vengeance was duly served on those who butchered our fellow brothers and sisters over there!

I can 100% appreciate your sentiments here! I was optimistic about Iraq and Afghanistan as well but the fact of the matter is that in both these cases, we were "liberating" people who did not want to be liberated and we never fully neutralized the enemy and FULLY CONQUERED the land! We needed to TAKE OVER both of these countries, declare martial law, and perhaps restore independent rule perhaps a hundred or so years down the road. I may be exaggerating but this is the way they waged war back in the "Olden Days" where we were throwing spears and stones! We need to go back and familiarize ourselves with these old lessons!

I worry about who is going to fill the power vacuum and whether the country will be thrown into a "Civil War" in which may emerge another bully even worse than the Khameni regime of whom the Iranian people have no lost love! We need to pray for Iran. 20/20 hindsight, I believe we could've lived with both Sadaam Hussein and Moamar Khadaffi but the Khameni regime was a legitimate threat to all in the region and we are all better off seeing them gone!

It would be wonderful to have successful transition without ever having a single American Boot touching the ground but we shall see. We need to pray for Iran and pray for our leaders. I believe the direction we are taking is the best hope for any meaningful peace for my kids and grandkids.

I agree that we do not need to foist "American Democracy" down their throats. Hopefully we have learned this lesson. Based upon President Trump's speech, he is going to "let them chart their own destiny. Hopefully this can happen without a single "Americian Boot" on Iranian soil. The wild cards in this mess are Russia and China who both see Iran as a strategic advantage to their agenda.

Actually, I wish we could get in a time machine to post WWI when the allied forces cut and divided up the former Ottoman Empire and we had "Lawerence of Arabia" building all of the infrastructure. We could then stop all this nonsense by pulling completely out of the Middle East and allow them to subsist on sheep farming as they had done long before we stuck our necks into their business! We have given legitimacy to their abominable Islamic religion
