I don't understand what is the big deal about a nation being born at once. It happens all the time.Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once?
United States - Independence Day, July 4, 1776 (although John Adams thought July 2 was the day that should be celebrated with fireworks)
India - August 14, 1947
Algeria - July 5, 1962
Mexico - September 16, 1810
Brazil - September 7, 1822
Pakistan - August 14, 1947
Ghana - March 6, 1957
Angola - November 11, 1975 etc. etc. etc.
What is so unusual about Israel having been born in one day? There is more than one chance in 33 million of that happening.
PARTIAL LIST OF COMMENTATORS WHO INTERPRETED ISAIAH 66:6-8 AS A REFERENCE TO THE BIRTH OF THE CHRISTIAN NATION
MATTHEW POOLE: "The prophecy therefore seems rather to refer to the coming of Christ, and the sudden propagation of the Gospel."
MATTHEW HENRY: "But this was a figure of the setting up of the Christian church in the world, and the replenishing of that family with children which was to be named from Jesus Christ. When the Spirit was poured out, and the gospel went froth from Zion, multitudes were converted in a little time and with little pains compared with the vast product. The apostles, even before they travailed, brought forth, and the children born to Christ were so numerous, and so suddenly and easily produced, that they were rather like the dew from the mother's womb."
PHILIP MAURO: "Let us turn now to a passage in the last chapter of Isaiah . . . which in my opinion, and as will be evident to the unbiased mind upon slight examination, refers to this present gospel dispensation, and indeed to one of the most conspicuous events of the early days thereof. . . . And beyond all question the 'one day' here foretold is that great day of Pentecost, which was the birthday of that marvellous 'nation,' the like whereof had never been in the world before."
JOHN CALVIN: "No 'nation' ever came into the world in an instant . . . But the case is very different with the Church, which all at once, and in more than one place, brings forth a vast number of children."
ADAM CLARKE: "These two chapters [Isaiah 65 and 66] manifestly relate to the calling of the Gentiles [and] the establishment of the Christian dispensation."
ALBERT BARNES: "I see no reason why this [Isaiah 66:8] should not be applied to the spread of the gospel in pagan lands, and why we should not yet look for the rapid propagation of Christianity in a manner as surprising and wonderful as would be such an instantaneous change in the appearance of the earth, or such a sudden birth of a kingdom."
