As everyone knows, Halloween is quickly approaching. Why not make this night a soul winning event?

You can with Gospel Tracts.

Check out Chick Publications:

http://www.chick.com/seasonal/halloween/2014/

They have great ideas and suggestions on ways one can witness effectively by utilizing Gospel tracts and by handing them out to those kids and teenagers who will come to your door only once a year. And who knows this may be their only chance to ever receive the Gospel.

Furthermore, for a Gospel Tract which also covers the subject of Halloween but that is more aimed at and tailored for adults, you can check out brother Terry Watkins ministry website (av1611.org), Dial The Truth Ministries. He has written a tract called: Halloween - A Covenant with Death and Hell. Very informative on the issue and history of Halloween.

So there you go folks. Make the 31st a night where you will honour the Lord by giving someone the Gospel.

Gotta admire someone who uses a Bible scholar like Jack Chick and his cartoon theology.  ::) ::)

I hope you give away really big candy bars to go with those tracts.

I don't understand. Is there a YouTube video to teach me?

I can get up to at least 900 kids!!! I live in a easy walking from house to house. My boss comes to the neighborhood and hands out Bibles with tracts and candy. usually gets around $100 dollars worth, and hands out 900 to 1000 orange NTs.  So far I have only gotten $25.00 worth (got some bogo deals), not sure if I am going to pick up more.

We will hand out a box of the Halloween Chick Tracts.
They are readily accepted, when accompanied by quality candy and trinkets.

Yes I know they are light and kooky.

They give the Scripture a chance to make it into a home.

We don't pretend that it isn't about God.
We don't hide it in the candy.
We bless those who receive it.

It Is what it is.

I'd rather befriend Dad, and work on earning his trust, but once a year we just hand out something to everyone.

Last year we made up 200 gift bags for families who visited our church for trunk or treat. We ran out. We will be making up more bags this year. The bag has information about the church and our programs. Invitations for the kids to come to Awana or youth group. A flier for our Christmas concert. They have assorted bible tracts as well.

The event used to be held out doors but the weather here is always iffy so it has been moved indoors. The seating is removed from the auditorium and a giant bounce house is set up right in the middle of the room. Around the walls are games that hand out candy for prizes.

Downstairs there is a treasure trail the kids and their families follow that takes them tumor games and activities. We make cotton candy and popcorn. We have folks who do balloon animals. We have strategically located "greeters" to give direction and make people feel welcome.

We are on of three churches in our town that do this type of event and the word on the street is that ours is the best. It draws a large crowd and we see bumps in Sunday attendance afterward as well.

I personally do not like Halloween. We did not celebrate the day when we were raising our kids. I do like people and since most people do celebrate the event then this is a good opportunity for me to meet them and make them feel welcome at a stuffy old baptist church.

Oh, and Mr. Chick isn't part of the program. ;)

. . . because Chick Publications checked out of reality decades ago.

Does Bibleburner have YouTube proof that Jack Chick is actually a man? He's so reclusive, no one can really know for sure.

I miss taking my kids. Our church doesnt do anything, so I normally would take my kids to another church and they had games to play which earned you candy, they gave out hot dogs, popcorn, soda and snow cones (YEah!! Did not have to cook), They played music and had a cake walk, and would have a couple bounce houses and a rock climbing wall.

But many churches in the town and surrounding towns have events. Roger Dean Stadum (where the marlins and carndials have spring training) also do a huge event. So there are lost of safe places to choose from.

As a child growing up in Wisconsin, most halloweens it snowed! So your costume was always covered up with a winter jacket!! Nice to be able to wear shorts and flip flops here!!

You can with Gospel Tracts.

Soul-winning as slacktivism. No effort required! Just drop a comic book in their pillowcase. You don't even have to engage with them!

What the Hyles did Paul know about soul-winning, anyway (Acts 17:2, 17; 18:4,19; 19:8,9; 24:25)?

Bibleburner is to evangelism as McDonald's is to food: lazy and insubstantial.

I agree that tract dropping isn't soul-winning.
I will continue to drop em.
But, like I said earlier, I'd rather engage Dad, and enter the house through the God-apointed authority.

That's incredible Kaba. That is quite a number of kids that you can reach with the Gospel. Praise the Lord!

Glad to hear that your boss is also doing his part in evangelism and spreading the word. We sure do need more labourers!

It's good that you are open and honest about it. I think that is always the best approach.

It only comes once a year. So we might as well use it as a witnessing opportunity. What other day do we know of where around 200 to 300 kids and teenagers come to your door?

Ransom, Gospel tracting is just another effective way of reaching the lost with the Gospel. There are several things that a minister of reconciliation can do for evangelism. He can street preach, hold Gospel signs and banners, he can place Gospel bumper stickers on his vehicle, he can go door to door and witness and minister that way, he can also mail out cds and dvds with the Gospel Message, he can wear buttons on his shirt that displays the Scriptures which declare the Gospel message, or he can pass out Gospel Tracts.

See, there are plenty of ways that a man or woman can evangelize and reach out to the lost. Can a Christian do more than one method of evangelizing? Sure.

Chick Tracts preach a false gospel. Congratulations Bibleburner, you're turning your neighbourhood kids into heretics.

Interestingly enough, studies have shown time and time again that the methods you described above are not effective. Effectively impacting someone in such a way that they change their personal beliefs requires real involvement in their life. Generally, this occurs as they watch your, often from a distance. If you live a life of sacrifice, humility, grace, compassion, dedication , patience, submission, kindness, joy, perseverance, and love, then people are attracted to you, and likewise, your message. It can be a display of minutes, for example when you grab burgers and go have lunch with the bum on the corner. But it is actionable and requires legitimate effort on your part.

Tract bombing (and the equivalent with bumper stickers) along with everything else you mentioned  does nothing to accomplish this, and worse, cheapens the Gospel to a sales pitch to buy vacuum cleaners Jesus.

How do they preach a false gospel?

Do not they preach Repentance???

Repentance is a part of the Gospel, you do know that, don't you?

Turn pagan Halloween into an Opportunity for Witnessing

Why not? It worked for the modern day church service.
