watch out for these illegally imported vienna style sausages from jamaica.... they were shipped to alabama, florida,
georgia, maryland,
and texas .. .. so far there are no reports of them causing illness.... but they are not eligible for
import into the united states... . the bulletin gives the reasons why...

Weird that Grace foods imported into the U.S. are a product of Jamaica, while the ones imported into Canada are labeled a product of the U.S.

Anyway, come to Canada. We still have canned mini-hot dogs.

I'm still upset with Denmark that they refuse to offer worldwide shipping options for their canned cheeseburgers.

it;s very weird.... .and i;ve never seen grace foods products sold in hawaii.... .. all the things like vienna sausages are imported by libbys.. ...

one of the issues noted about the grace products is most of them were labelled as being produced entirely in the usa... . but inspectors saw something unusual and alterted investigators... and the investigators discovered they had actually come from jamaica....

i get a lot of these usda bulletins in my email.. .. i;m always looking for things that might affect hawaii.. ... most of the u.s. mainland alerts are about foods that might have slipped past the inspectors without being stamped approved.... .. and the mistake was discoverd several months after the food was already delivered to markets...... .. but otherwise nothing unusual was noted....... . but for some reason this alert looked a little more suspicious ....

i don;t think denmark even puts those things in their most basic
MREs...... nor in their humanitary aid packages to air drop into
areas suffering a famine.......

have you ever actually tried one of those?.....i;m curious as to
what it compares to.... .

Not Danish cheeseburgers in a can, but German. This YouTuber tries all sorts of odd packaged foods:

i never saw that before... . but i clicked suscribe.. .. i like her brutal honesty when it comes to these foods... ... she kinda reminds me of mre steve 1989.... .. will eat anything no matter how old it it is.... and has a following of patrons who wonder how he;s still alive......

I have not, but I’m sure it's just as delicious as the $6 cheeseburgers you can grab out of the hot oven at 7-Eleven.

i never ate those... ..but i have tried the much cheaper pastrami sandwich at 7-11.... and also gone in and bought ready made sandwiches at 7-11 for a few of the homeless guys we minister to on saturday mornings ....... ... but only after... and only if... we run out of mcdonalds sausage biscuits we buy in bulk before we go out..... . i usually buy the pastrami sandwiches at 7-11 coz i have tried those before i know they are safe.... and for some reason it;s the sandwich the homeless guys request the most........

however..... we discovered several years ago that some of these homeless guy don;t eat the food we bring to them..... they save it and use it to barter with other homeless people for something else.... ... they do that with cans of spam all the time too.... .. it;s why stores in vulnerable areas lock up the spam behind plexiglass so they can;t steal it... ....we don;t take things like spam ot other canned goods out there coz for one thing - a bunch of canned goods in a backpack are too heavy.... ... but a backpack full of sausage biscuits is relatively light.... and they stay fresh and edible for a long time.....

I stopped giving money to homeless people a while ago because I felt like I was enabling self-destructive behavior, but you have to hand it to them; they can get very creative with limited resources.

In my state they figured out that they can buy cases of soda with their food stamps card and sell it to local vendors for cash at a discounted price.

You might actually enjoy her channel, then. She tries a lot of military rations that people send her from around the world.

i know what you mean... ..and i have heard a lot of people say giving to the homeless enables laziness ....and that it is nothing but a waste of time and resources to give to people who might be lying to us about their needs and who might be capable of working... or who might act in a dishonest way with what we give them... .. there is no doubt in my mind that occasionally we have given people food and other things they didn;t need.... .

but i believe scripture commands us to give to those who ask of us and appear or claim to be in need.....not to turn any away..... and to give to them freely without expecting anything in return.... .in other words - to give without reservation..

there is no command in any of that to be sure the person we give to really needs it.... that they are going to use what we give them wisely, and that they won;t misuse it.... .... if they ask of us it puts a responsibility on us to give... .... ... the responsibility to use what we give them honestly and wisely is on them.... ..

hebrews even says some of these "strangers" asking of us .. or needing our help.... might be angels we are unaware of.....

I used to think that way, and while laziness may be a factor, in most cases, it's mental illness caused by substance abuse. I don't have a problem with providing them with some food and water to get through the day, but giving cash directly will likely result in it going towards continuing to feed whatever addictions they may have.

In my state, our tax dollars fund homeless outreach programs, and they are very generous about getting them immediate shelter, with meals provided. The problem is, we also have laws that make it difficult for the state to have conservatorship over someone that quite frankly can't make rational decisions for themselves in a mind-altered state.

Unfortunately, the way it usually goes is that they have to commit a serious crime first, then they are offered to either go to jail or be forced into treatment.

i have mental illness caused by an early childhood of sexual abuse... and i;m on a shoebox full of meds to help control it.... .but even with that and the best mental health care and treatments available i would have been dead long ago without the family who took me in.... and without having salvation by the grace of God through Jesus....

that;s what we are working for in the long run... their eternal salvation..... .. it;s true we give them what we can in the way of a quick cheap meal or a snack to get them through one more day.. .. but our main reason for being out there is to share the gospel... . and to share it with people that most in the civilized world... even the christian world... would step over or walk around...... ..

another goal we have is to get them off the street and into a shelter.... . at least into some kind of treatment either medical care or mental care if they have no alternative but to live on the street.... . and thanks to states on the mainland whose policy for dealing with troublesome homeless people is to give them a one way ticket to hawaii we never run out of new homeless people to work with... ..."fresh off the jet" is a common phrase out there....

but we never give them money.... in fact i don;t even carry money around with me.. ..not ever.... ..some of the homeless shelters are funded by the churches... others by the state.... .we know which people are in the drug rehab programs....... and if we see anyone actively doing drugs or dealing when we are out there we leave... and we notify police... .... . that has happened a number of times and it;s geting more and more rare to see it any more.... some of the people who know us out there are not only protective of each other but they are protective of us too... .. they will actually keep the trouble makers in line while we are there... . .

we have 5 different levels of what;s known as an exparte'.... or emergency removal to a medical facility or lock up.... ..the first one is voluntary on advise of authority.... the next 4 are ordered either by contacting a judge to obtain a court order for a person that;s a danger to themselves.... or a removal under arrest by police on suspicion of a crime..... most of those will also involve having EMS come in and evaluate the person or else take charge of them.... ... but it;s not a perfect system.... .. a lot fall through the cracks... . and someone has to go out there and see these people to make a determination... ....it;s not easy....
Unfortunately, the way it usually goes is that they have to commit a serious crime first, then they are offered to either go to jail or be forced into treatment.
it happens here sometimes too.... .. sometimes we see one judge agree to issue an exparte order only for another judge to order the person released before they can get any treatment or before they are even questioned or investigated.... .. ... .you see a lot of tragedy play out in both this ministry and also the others i;m in ministering to trafficked kids... runaways and women who have suffered severe domestic abuse...... those cases have a tendency to affect me in a way much worse than it does the other people i work with.. ..what looks like a paradse on the surface can have a very different looking underground...
