I guess being handsome, educated and rich is no guard against criminal behavior or making poor decisions.

Stuff like this is always sad. 😔

I understand, but it was just a couple misdemeanors. He probably wouldn’t have even spent a night in jail. It’s not like he was facing 30-to-life.

Emphasis on poor decisions.

If being handsome educated and wealthy was a guard against anything, certainly, it would keep one from committing a misdemeanor.

Why would a wealthy, successful, good looking, Harvard-educated guy with five kids jump to his death? This doesn’t make sense.

The simple answer is that the man was lost and saw no hope for his future.

To answer your question with another: why would a rock star at the peak of his success and popularity take a shotgun and blow his brains out (controversy and conspiracies notwithstanding)?

Yes, it truly is sad! What are we doing to be salt and light to others around us?

Some people like to be intentionally obtuse. I don't know why...but, it seems to be something common here.

My Grandaddy told me many years ago something to the effect of: “Never go to jail over a woman. There are millions of women out there, if it gets to that point, just walk away forever.” So, yeah, killing yourself over a woman and leaving five kids fatherless doesn’t make sense to me, especially when you’re rich and have everything going for you.

Usually drugs with those guys.

All of this is symptomatic of the problem: SIN.

No one's problems are ever caused by lack of money or education. That is why wealth and knowledge will never keep one from doing things that astound us.

It may not have been a snap decision, as the marriage had experienced problems before this. Built up frustrations over the years can lead to despair that can be debilitating.

Uh, this wasn't directed at you, HUK...at least not intentionally. ;)
Understood. I guess the story just baffles me. I understand a lot of people commit suicide, and the problem seems to be getting worse, but this guy just doesn’t fit the profile. Then again, maybe this guy had some demons in his life not publicly reported about.

I had an aunt commit suicide on Mother's Day many years ago. And I also had a cousin commit suicide knowing that his death from bone cancer would be painful. I've had six friends commit suicide over the years. It's always a painful thing to see people get to that point.

there is no specific profile that is more prone to suicide than others are... . it happens in all demographics ...every kind of faith or beliefe... and in every country.... ....but there are signs that can indicate to others someone is sliding toward that end.... problem is you have to be very close to someone to see those signs.... and even then they can be easily missed.. .. and when vulnerable it can be anything...even a small thing.. that pushes a person with suicidal ideation over the edge.... ...

i went over that edge once, though it wasn;t really a small thing that pushed me.... it was small and even nothing to others - just a misplaced comment made by a special speaker at a school assembly.... ... but i actually did fit what most people consider a profile for suicide.... but what was small to everyone else was like a chain and anchor to me - attached at both wrists and tossed right over the side with nobody seeing it coming... i didn;t even see it coming until it was happening.... i went to school happy that day and had no thought of harming myself before going to that assembly... but afterwards left school quietly in the middle of the day and went straight home... nobody else knew what going on or what was happening....

That’s really terrible, especially on Mother’s Day.
Yes, sir. Her kids, some of them already grown, watched as their siblings were carted off to foster and adoptive homes. Minnesota didn't really give them much of a choice.
