If you vote your conscience and refuse to vote in such a way that defeats evil, then voting your conscience is just false pietism.

Vote strategically.  Christians get caught up in the idea that they cannot vote for a Mormon and McCain is not conservative enough... now look what they have done... We are worse off!

So during the primary are you saying we should vote for the "Best" candidate or the one that's most electable. If we always vote for the most progressive & moderate republican candidate then there will be little difference in the parties in a few years.

Once we get to the general election the choice is clear. In almost every race in the nation (state or national houses, governors. or president) the Republican candidate is far more scriptural in their major positions than the dems. That?s not to say they are Christian by any means, just more scriptural. Take a look at the democrat party platform & tell me God would ever want you to vote for it.

We have a nation full of brainwashed boobs who think that they are "conservative" or "liberal", and are neither.
If they actually knew what the Intent of our founding documents were, they could "vote their conscience" (which really translates into voting "for what I like").

If you knew about devalued currency, sweatshops, and the function of import tariffs in balancing the unjust scales, you?d be able to vote for a Nationalist without fearing Fascism.

But, when you hear the Neo Cons and One-Worlders like the Bush clan and Buffet, describe the systemized theft that has destroyed the U.S. Economy as "free market capitalism", and you fancy yourself a Conservative Christian, you erroneously vote for a fraudulent "liberty" that is treasonous.

I vote my conscience and always will.  That means I do NOT vote known evil, even when it is the "lesser of two evils."  Regarding those whose consciences operate differently, and tell them TO vote for evil when that seems the "strategic" thing to do, I do not judge them, with one exception:

When they get on their high horse and tell others that is the ONLY proper course, I tell them as firmly and profanely as possible what to do to themselves, and then I pray for them to repent or, preferably, die.

Since the end game strategy is already in place, it is of little concern or consequence to me. I will vote in such a way as to be able to face my savior unashamedly. That is what voting your conscience allows you to do.

Jimminy Crickets NorrinRadd!

Because this is an open forum for thinking out loud, here is my perspective...

VoteYourConscience is meaningless twaddle. It really says nothing. It states the obvious. All of us have consciences that can be "turned on a dime." Who EVER votes against their conscience? It is impossible. No one votes with a gun to their head. Even if you were to vote "against your conscience" because a gun is pointed at your head, your conscience still informs you that your desire to live is greater than casting a vote with which you don't agree.

Scripture never suggests that you "let your conscience be your guide." The conscience is NEVER a good indicator that you are casting the right vote. It can "be seared" or you can vote with a "clear conscience" which does not mean you are voting correctly. (1 Cor 4.4)

With that said, I prefer to say "Vote in such a way that God's righteousness will have the greatest opportunity to prevail."

BTW: I was a Cruz guy. I am not entirely happy with Trump. But then, I have not been entirely happy with ANY Republican candidate/president we have had the last two decades.

I prefer to say "Eenie meenie flip a coin, then find me the Urim and Thummim."

Your way is just as much guesswork as your definition of "conscience."

Perhaps you overlooked the Scripture above regarding the conscience. It is not a sure guide, no matter how much Jimminy Crickett would have you believe.

Perhaps you overlooked the Scripture above regarding the conscience. It is not a sure guide, no matter how much Jimminy Crickett would have you believe.

Perhaps you have overlooked the fact that suneidesis occurs some 29 times in the NT, and the vast majority of times it is used positively.

Meanwhile, your own professed standard of "Vote in such a way that God's righteousness will have the greatest opportunity to prevail" is useless bilge or, in your words, "twaddle."  You have nothing but guesswork and, yes, your conscience, to tell you what choices will provide that "greatest opportunity."

Merely counting the usages of a word does not make your point. The idea of let your conscience be your guide is neither helpful... nor biblical.

Paul made it clear that a "clear conscience" is not, necessarily, God-honoring. Our standard is not to be found in a "clear conscience."

"My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent. It is the Lord who judges me."

A+

This is why I won't vote for either major party Presidential candidate.
