Like most of you, I am a citizen of heaven and Christ is my King.
Unlike many of you, my understanding of being a citizen of the USA makes me show concern for the program and positional beliefs of those who will govern me. Because government policy and programs will, to a great extent, determine the ‘quality’ of our lives.
I also know that God is sovereign and is the One who puts rulers up and takes them down…but in America, we can vote…express our opinion of who would govern us best. And I have always taken that seriously.

When Israel entered the Babylonian captivity many false prophets were saying it would be short and temporary but God, of course, had determined it would be 70 years. His Prophet Jeremiah told the exiled Jews in Babylon to "seek the welfare of the city" and "pray to the LORD on its behalf," because their own peace and prosperity were tied to Babylon's well-being. A seemingly radical command to seek good in their captors' land for their own survival and future return. This instruction from Jeremiah 29:7 told them to build lives, plant gardens, and contribute to society, because that was their temporal home. The Babylonians were pagan and had obviously immoral values, but they were where God allowed His people to dwell.

I use the same principle when choosing a candidate. Personal morality is a virtue, but Jimmy Carter, a virtuous man, held immoral political views…including the I'm personally opposed to killing babies but I support legally and politically Roe-Wade which allows them to be murdered.

So, knowing Trump is what he is, I’d vote for him over Carter, Biden or Harris given that choice.

Hallelujah!

(Jer 29:7) And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.

Does Trump promote peace amongst the citizens of our country? Do any of the Republicans or Democrats?

Perhaps not.
But how does that change my process?
As I have often said, its not perfection because we’re not in a perfect world.

We have moral standards for a Pastor, not a President.

Although back during the Monica Lewinsky scandal, "Character matters" was often said about the president from pulpits (and probably on the FFF).
I’m sure that’s true.
My reason for not voting Clinton was not based on his character.
How does that change my process?

Character does matter, and Trump should be told by his constituency in a louder voice that his crude and narcissistic attitude is wrong (not that it matters in his lame-duck presidency, but it sends a message to those who are planning on making a run for 2028), but at the end of those deliberations policy is going to win out over such character considerations for many voters like myself. And as Tarheel (and others) has said, imagining that voting for the alternative is going to result in a better American outcome for conservative culture and righteous laws is laughable under the current progressive assault.

This country has continued on a downward path my entire lifetime. I haven't really seen much difference whether Republicans or Democrats have power. Maybe not voting for the crappy candidates both parties give us will do more good in the long term. Like in the stock market, play the long game.

tell that to the parents of the 12 marines and the navy medic killed by a bomb at the abbey gate of the kabul airport - during joe bidens disastrous and totally botched pull out of afghanistan....... and that;s just for starters... . both biden and his enablers have the blood of those marines and the blood of many other americans on their hands who would be alive today had he and his democrat cohorts not been given power...... it definitely matters who gets into office.. ... and in many more ways than one....

and yes... character does matter.... and in my book a president who is dedicated to saving american lives... and ending wars where thousands of other innocent people are being killed has character and principles in a place where it matters most - even if his indiscretions where other things are concerned might occasionally embarass a few baptists and soccer moms... .and even if his economic plan takes longer to work than he thought it would.... . or if any of that gives the democrats and their news media lap dogs something to crow over......

they are going to crow over anything they can find anyway... and if they can;t find something they will make something up........ that;s been the nature of politics ever since elections for public offices were invented.....

Attempts to form a third party go way back in the US…starting with an Anti-Masonic party in the early 1800’s. Only a few, 2 I can recall offhand, have had an affect on a presidential election…Perot helped Clinton being most recent.

I can agree that the system is rigged to make it extremely difficult to form an effective third party in the US and that politics is a game that requires pragmatism, hypocrisy and compromise to be successful. I might, under certain circumstances vote 3rd party…I almost voted Perot in Clinton’s first election. However, I would argue that usually that is a futile effort.

I contend that even voting 3rd Party requires some pragmatism….unless we can find out the name of the mysterious moral candidate Sub votes for…

perot and the 1992 election is a good study for anyone who thinks there is merit in voting 3rd party in a national contest.. .. and little to no risk in it.... .... .. most of the voters who went for perot in 1992 were actually more conservative than george bush.... .. but because they allowed their votes to be split between perot and bush they got the exact the opposite of what any of them wanted... ... bill clinton.... a liberal democrat.... .and the rest is history.......

all that was before my time as a voter.. .. i was still in gradeschool... ... my first opportunity to vote in a presidential election was when george bush the 2nd ran for re-election in 2004.... . hopefully that kind of thing won;t happen again - but what bothers me about conervatives who still vote 3rd party is that they are doing so knowing that could happen... and they are willing to let it be so......

it;s literally like saying... "if i can;t have the cake the way i want it then i;ll throw it in the trash and we will all eat bugs..... " ..

younger voters might be forgiven for doing that ...but you would think after eating bugs for 8 years with bill clinton in the white house - older voters who remember all that would never want to see it repeated.... ...but short memory syndrome is one of the biggest problems american voters have.... the other is short attention spans......

What about when America invades a country like Venezuela for the oil and children will die but we do it anyway? That’s kinda like a late term abortion isn’t it?

When we invade Venezuela we can talk about it.
