Was Crucifixion Worse than This?

I don't think Christ gave the torture any thought at all. I think it was the curse. Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
I personally think it was what happened as a result of him being the curse, not just the physical suffering. His Father forsook him.

"My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?"

I don't see anything in the scriptures that emphatically states His suffering must exceed anything we could be subjected to
Indeed, the Scriptures are conspicuously silent on many of the gory details.

But we know Christ's suffering went way beyond the physical aspect.
Which I think should be the primary focus. When we speak of the Cross, it isn't the timber and the nails, but the meaning or significance thereof. What does it mean to be hanged on a tree? It means that one is guilty of a sin "worthy of death" and is "accursed of God." Deuteronomy 21:22-23

Not that Christ had any guilt of His own, but that He took our guilt, and bore the pronouncement of guilt, and the sentence, that is, God's indignation and wrath.

Those are the "pains of death" (Acts 2:24) I believe.

i believe the greatest suffering Christ endured was the moment God the Father turned his back on Him as He was on the cross.... when Jesus cried out "why has thou forsaken me?".... . at that moment He experience total and complete separation from the Father - which is something no human being still alive has ever suffered... but which all those thrown into the lake of fire at the judgement will suffer.. .. and which some believe those in hell today suffer already..... any physical pain the human body can experience is minor compared to that kind of mental - emotional and spiritual suffering...

I do not believe anyone can compare the physical suffering they endure to the suffering Christ endured. Could some suffering physically exceed that of the physical suffering of Christ? Hard to imagine but I suppose it's possible. I don't see anything in the scriptures that emphatically states His suffering must exceed anything we could be subjected to. But we know Christ's suffering went way beyond the physical aspect. In fact, I don't think His physical suffering can be separated from the emotional or spiritual suffering He endured. It's a package deal. Therefore, His suffering can never compare to anything we can imagine. Think of it: the Son in eternal fellowship with the Father suddenly being forsaken as all our sins are laid upon Him. Will we ever endure such a thing? (I ask rhetorically)
Jesus even asked James and John, "Are you able to drink the cup I am about drink?" Implied answer being no.
Very well said!

I would say WWI trench warefare was worse...humanly speaking...than a crucifixion.
