Well there goes our $5,000? $900? Oh well bye bye.

800 square foot.
now i feel bad.....😕

our combined lanai space.... (balconys)..... is just a little smaller than that.. ......

but the whole apartment.. which is laid out more like a military bunker than a luxury condo... is a little over 4000 square feet... ..originally very austere when we first moved in... .. ...but since my sister gained majority ownership of it from her company she has added some things to it and made improvements to make it more like a comfortable home than an installation.... ...and it definitely does seem more like one now... .

but the best things about it have always been that it;s very secure and it;s on the 39th floor with a view worth far more than the actual price of it originally was... . and probably worth more than the price of it would be now.... ..

it was built with one large master bed room/principle guest room with full double bath and a walk in closet... . one smaller but still fairly large station manager bed room.. (my room)... with full bath and walk in closet..... .... 3 smaller guest rooms with half baths.... plus a huge main bathroom.... decon room... laundry.... gigantic pantry and a huge kitchen that could serve a restaurant.... plus dining room and living room.. ..

but the central feature that the main double door entrance from the outside corridor goes into is a huge office with a small foyer just inside the double doors ...it;s has a half bath too plus a walk in closet.... then there is another set of double doors that opens in a foyer/entrance hallway that doesn;t get used much...... ..

we don;t use either set of double doors for entry... we have a separate door less obvious and down the outside hallway/corridor from those that opens to a long hallway that leads beside the kitchen dining room and into the living room.. .. that hallway has another hallway that breaks off immediately inside that one door and leads into the decon room.....

there are other smaller seldom used features you would expect to find in a place built as a class A safe house.... and newer features my sister added to it to make it safer from hurricanes and attacks by hostile forces...

but it;s no longer a class A safe house or even certified as a lesser class one any more... .. new technology and new requirements written into codes for such places caused newer installations to be built else where and this place to be downgraded officially to just another condo/apartment... .....

but my sisters company still makes use of it as this is where her main office is that she operates from... . the company keeps it constantly upgraded with new equipment and company clients meet with her here all the time - but only in that main office..... none of them are ever lodged here anymore and they never enter the apartment itself... instead we have a set of permanent room mates that rents the 3 guest rooms... they are treated like family.. ..:)

Yep, 800 square foot with no plumbing.

no phone - no light- and no motor car either?.....:(
He's got internet, so he has lights and cable. At least a phone. And he goes to work, he says, so he has a car, unless he takes a train or bus, because the Uber bill would be more than he'd ever have to pay for a new car. But no plumbing?

I'd say his house was a choice, like Oliver Douglas's in Green Acres.

What's a decon room? Never heard that term?

for decontamination ... ..hospital emergency rooms all have one somewhere just inside their main doors... ... ours was originally built for getting anything off your skin you don;t want to carry into the house - back during the cold war when nuclear war was considered a probability...... .. .... but now it has a combination of uses ..... all the cleaning supplies used in the house are stored in there.... ...it got major use during covid and a few times during tuberculosis epidemics in the past.... sars.... dengue fever etc.... .... it;s a nice place to drop dive gear and also dirty hunting clothes when coming back from the mountains or the ocean.. . it has doors that lead directly into the laundry and the main bathroom where there is a huge shower.... .. pretty useful room actually.....

Very cool. I could see it during COVID and the Cold war stuff. The generations before you really experienced war. Also for your Hunting clothes

We raised three girls in a 960 square foot ranch house. Three bedrooms, one bath. They were all born within four years time. Three teenage girls shared one bathroom. I learned a lot about women during that season of life.

it is....:) .... and it has it;s own emergency shower in there too.... we also have an autoclave in there coz the huge main bathroom and shower it;s attached to was built to also serve as an emergency medical and trauma room.... and we do keep a large cabinet of medical supplies in there.. ..... but i don;t think either of those rooms have ever been used for an actual trauma or critical medical emergency.... not even before we moved in... just minor stuff..... .... but it was built for a worse case scenario... which thankfully has not happened yet.... ...

one of the things i did not like when we first moved in was a huge walk in firearms locker at the back of my walk in closet.... it;s built into the structure of the apartment itself.... ..the front looks like the door of a bank vault.... i do not have a key to it...only my dad and sister have keys..... . . i got use to the presence of it by putting refrigerator magnets and magnetic hooks all over it with small stuffed toys hanging from them.. ... . but i can;t block access to it completely coz it still gets used by my sister and her company....... i do have clothes hanging in front of it though... ... they just have to work their way through them to get to it....:sneaky:

and that;s another thing.... not a single closet in this place had a bar for hanging clothing on when we first moved in.... we had to go buy long and very heavy wooden rods from city mill then cut and install them.... .. most of the walls were just bare conrete that had been painted with concrete sealer.... .... they told us we could paint them any color we wanted.. .... but my sister bought really cool textured wall paper to cover them with... ... ..not frilly flowery stuff but heavy coverings with textured designs on it... she has been making constant inprovements to the place the whole time we have been here.. .mostly just things that make it more comfortable...

carpet was another issue... ... the place didn;t have any....anywhere.. .just bare concrete floors... .. so carpet had to be installed in some of the rooms too.. .... there is not any in my room though.. i didn;t want it.... ......but i do have area rugs on the floor there... ..

like i said it was built as a bunker/safe house... ..even has escape corridors.... .. so if you allowed a cat or an adventurist kid loose in here they could end up hiding out and you would never find them....
