When I was on Facebook, after Stephen King's "It" came out in theatres, I made a series of posts featuring Puddles Pity Party covers.
I was up at 4am to jog with my dog, Trixie. I didn't put her on a leash, but I straped a couple red LEDs to her harness so that she could be easily seen by the rare driver we encountered as she ran circles around me. Every now and then she would pause to sniff around a storm drain.
My posts would be something like this:
It was a brisk February morning. The Dog Star was already below the horizon, but that didn't discourage Trix any. She stopped and focused momentarily at a storm drain; ears perked. I wonder what caught her attention?
I've picked up jogging again. Oh...I'm a long way from 2 miles a day. I'm alternating 1.5 minute walks with 30 second jogs.
It just isn't the same without Trix.
Passed a storm drain and imagined her giving it some attention, then snorting and dashing into the neighbors' lawns, nose to the ground. I wonder what she would have sensed.
