Probably would dress like this but some "Christians" might accuse him of dressing like a pagan.  :P

You know SC, you have to wear at least a Brooks Bros. to be a real baptist, even if he was the "first one".

I'd give him four shekels for the gourd.  I know it's worth 10.

And poor John the Baptist, must have been a real reprobate because he didn't use a New Testament canon.

When i'm making hospital visits i wear a dress clothes. I wear a suit every service, usually wear a tie too. I'd consider Hudson Taylor to be a "real preacher" and he wore neither.  I consider David Platt to be a real preacher, and he always looks respectable, but you never see him in a suit and tie.

Yikes!  You're a cross-dresser for hospital visits?  Who knew?  ;)

look at this way..... if that ran family ran down the hall looking for another preacher to visit their family member..... then it means that not only did that other preacher not look like a paster but he probably didn;t act like one either..... and what ever level of comfort or moral support they were expecting to get from a pastor?..... he failed to provide......  regardless of how he was dressed........  in all seriousness...... and i know this is just my opinion...... but i think if he had managed to convince them through his speech and actions that he was truly there serving God it would not have mattered how he was dressed........  but when his speech and his actions matched his dress wear the family went looking for someone "real"...

the office of a pastor is an office of service.... is it not?....  and was that family not the ones who needed that service?...... if anyone needs to be made aware of anything it;s that other pastor.....  he needs to know that.. as a pastor...the needs of others trumps his desire to be comfortable and trendy .....  he should go back to his church and think about that... how well did he really serve that family in the hospital?......

Obviously this is a hot button for you, but it's not for me.  I couldn't possibly care less if the family wanted a dressed up pastor.  That's their preference, and I respect that.  I just like yanking TB's chain.

well if it;s not a hot button for you.... then why have you created so many threads dedicated to attacking and calling into question traditional churches?... our manner of services?.... and the way both we and our pastors dress when attending or conducting those services?......

Dressing up is not a hot button for me.  I think you misunderstood some of my threads.  I've said repeatedly it wasn't about dressing up.  It was an indirect way to get to some honest answers about attitudes.  Sort of like a distractor or indirect question in a survey.  In case you don't know how that works, you don't ask things like, "Do you respect women?" in a survey if you really want to know if people respect women.  Most people would say "yes" even if they don't respect women. So, instead, you ask indirect questions with some distractions thrown in.

If you find a Pastor that shares your 'belief system' good chance he will look like that....probably add a tinfoil hat.... ;)

i understand what you are saying..... but the way you are asking it still comes across as an attack on traditional churches... and also on those who prefer wearing nicer clothing to church instead of just daily running around the town stuff...... .. not even going to try to claim that the way i see things sometimes is not flawed.... because i know it is..... .. but i think in the case of some the threads you started the method of presenting what you wanted people to see might be flawed as well........ there is an inherent danger in playing devils advocate... you often get mistaken for the devil.....

You are so insightful... :)

actually... i was thinking that if you go into the wilderness.. looking for a preacher who is living off the land there.. (like john the baptist was).. then that picture is exactly what you should expect to see...... but if i saw someone dressed like that walking down the coridors of the hospital i would immediately assume two things.....

1.. i am definitely back in the psych ward..... ???

2.. he is neither a member of the clergy, or the staff....  :-\

;)

Probably what the Pharisee's thought too,.... :D

LOL!

I should of figured you'd post that picture.

:) ;)  If I had one of Shiloh I would have posted it....wait a minute I may have one from the old forum let's see who remembers who this is...the haircut should let Ransom tell us all...LOL

Steve Anderson, he blasphemes God's name by calling himself a preacher, probably can't spell grace.
He can spell 'grace' in at least 8 languages, that I know of.
And congrats are in order, the regular attendance at FWBC has surpassed 100.  8)

So he can wear this one when he preaches from Romans:
