What Does “They” Think Hamas Would do to “Them”?

You obviously understand law and bar better than I do, so is this thing a law school student or a member of the bar, which I've always thought was made of graduates?

I digress... making comments like this, this person is a gnat and I'd hate to be in her shoes.

I love the principle of free speech, even when I fervently disagree with it. Fortunately the official University spokesmen knew to distance themselves from her rhetoric.
The main advantage of free speech is that it allows fools to speak out so you know who they are.

Literally almost added that to my original post, and have said that very thing MANY times before.

Not to sound cliche, but different generation of kiddos. I’ve probably got close to twenty years on most of them. Geography also plays a big role in school ideology. I’d expect nothing less from “higher education” in New York. All that being said, attorneys do tend to lean left, but this is an extreme example.

Agreed, however, I’ve really never quite been able to wrap my mind around the attraction of hardcore liberals with the extreme factions of Islam. Everything a group like Hamas, Isis, etc., stand for is completely antithetical to the values that most liberals cherish: gay rights, abortion, women’s rights, atheism, etc. Seriously, I don’t get it!

Islam is by nature anti Western in its approach. A popular and driving notion of liberalism is self depreciation; "everything I was taught is wrong". Therefore, amongst liberals, philosophical self flagellation is a virtue especially when it targets one's cultural base such as western values. The good liberal discredits Western thought and accepts anything that does likewise, islam being a chief critic of Western philosophy. It doesn't matter that islam takes a dim view of ideals that liberals cherish; what matters is it is anti Western.

I’m pretty close to nominating you as my spokesperson, lol.

You make some great points here. I’d have a hard time disagreeing with your logic. I’m curious if others arrive at the same conclusion.

TBH, I'd be curious too. This is a thought I've had rattling around in my brain for ages. I'm sure a liberal's affinity for a system that runs so contrary to theirs goes far deeper than that. One thing is for sure, both islam and the (what we label) liberal mindset are godless philosophies and as such they find common ground where there is no other. It shows how inconsistent these mindsets are.

I think there’s a racial component as well. Approximately 90% of black folks vote Democrat. The black community has far greater ties to Islam than to Judaism. Black Lives Matter just caused some commotion by, essentially, defending the Hamas attack on Israel and blaming Israel. No surprise there….
