What will happen if Schaap...

.
it sounds good in theory..... and it would be nice if it was true that schaap will now be less powerful and less dangerous to girls.... ........ but if he is like other sex offenders then it;s not just the fact he held a position of power that made him able to seduce teenage girls and other women that he saw as easily influenced....i don;t know him and i only saw that one disusting video of him preaching a sermon.... but it;s probably his personality off the podium and the ability to talk smooth and with confidence... to convince people to go along with him and do what he wants..... that makes him truly dangerous....

the fact he continued to hold his position as pastor after preaching that polished arrow sermon... after all the evidence of what he was should have been clear to everybody in that church.. .. and the fact he continues to have supporters today and people still willing to defend him.... and who seem more concerned with his "restoration" than they are with the welfare of the girl he abused - speaks volumes about him and also about the church that enabled him.. indicates he is not done with being an offender yet.. ..and says he will continue to find opportunites to offend...

quite oftten sex offenders become even more creepy and even more dangerous once they are released from prison.... especially if they feel their sentence was unjust.... ...some of them adopt a "i paid my dues to society" attitude and even start to believe that society... and even the people they abused in the past... now owe them something...... .. that;s how it was with my mother... . she fit the entire profile of what i outlined above perfectly.... once out of prison she called me on the phone and within minutes i was back on the hook again....even crossed an ocean to move back in with her..... but thankfully only for just long enough to see she had not changed... ..

and that reveals something about former victims that needs to be realized by churches and addressed ..... once victims have succumbed to someone like schaap and like my mother was.. they will always be in danger of submitting to them again.... thankfully due to being raised by a family in my teenage years that taught me how to fight back, i did not give in like i had done before and got away from my mom.... .. but how often do churches that have had problems with predatory pastors do that?.... how often do they actually train young women how to recognize and resist advances from people like schaap?..... .. all i have ever seen them do is mull over what might be happening to their dear beloved pastor in the lockup... and wondering what he will do once he is released..... .....

none of that gives people like me who have been there in the victims shoes any confidence........ ..granted the abuse i suffered, and my mothers case and imprisonment was over 2 decades prior to what occured with schaap... and did not involve a church or a pastor.... ... but sex offenders are the same all over the world... no matter where you find them... their enablers are the same as well...... unfortunatey absence of any repentence or change in them after prison is the same too....... .

Anyone from HAC remember in 1993 the "Preying From the Pulpit" ? Jack Hyles and co held a press conference to combat it.

I could name names of at least a dozen pastors who openly spoke about the abuses of Jack and David Hyles and HAC. I'd hope that they have cleaned the cupboards of the worst ones, but I am very wary.
sadly if they are on staff they haven't.

Just because he was a pastor does not mean he was a regenerated man. And it does not make him any different from any other abuser, pedophile, predator, or whatever people want to classify him as. That poor girl will suffer for her entire life with scars from that sick, sinful, twisted son in law of a fake. I have worked with addicts of all kinds, alcohol, drugs, sexual addicts, pedophiles, and their only hope is a multi-faceted approach including the church, full blown, recovery programs with fully qualified staff (not just a couple of lay people), absolute willingness to be accountable to brothers or sisters in Christ, and in my opinion, a genuine encounter with Jesus Christ that includes genuine repentance. Schaap got that way over a long time, it will take him a long time to change if he ever does. I would surmise that pornography was part of his downfall, not just one encounter with a girl. And she probably was not the first female he had sex with other than his wife. Those things don't happen in a vaccum.

I am doubtful. Too many guys come out of prison and go right back to their sin of choice, whatever it is.

when did i say i thought he was ever regenerated?...... i have never given schaap or anyone like him credit for being regenerated whether they were a pastor or not....... .... .did you even read what i wrote?..... maybe i didn;t make myself clear enough.... or maybe i;m misunderstanding your reply to me now.... but it seems you found some disagreement in my post?......

i have great respect for you, but do you really believe perpetrators who have a history of holding authority over a previous victim, .(ie. parent ... pastor.. priest.. police officer.... etc)... do not continue to be more dangerous to those same previous victims than "any other abuser, pedophile, predator, or whatever people want to classify him as"..?.. once they get out of jail?

you might have worked with a wide variety of evil people but i have been a victim of them..... and what i am saying is that people who were ever victims of powerful or influential people will continue to be vulnerable and susceptible to those same people long after society thinks the perps have paid their dues and released them from prison....... ........that;s what i was saying in my post...... they need to be kept as far as away as possible from their former victims and anyone else who might be considered vulnerable .... and their whereabouts monitored continously from that moment on....

sorry.... my mistake.. thanks for the clarification.... .....i don;t think people who have betrayed their position like he did, should ever be allowed back into any kind of job or occupation even close to it again..... especially not back into some kind of ministry....... not even... as some suggested... allowing him to work in a homeless ministry or shelter.. ... ...why subject those poor unfortunate homeless people to the likes of him?..... .. ..if his former followers really want to see him restored to some kind of useful service then put a shovel in his hand and send him below the city streets to clean out blocked storm drains and sewers..... or put him in an orange vest and send him out to pick up trash along the highways... ..in my opinion the only service fit for people like that is to have them serve as an example.. .. ..and it wouldn;t do former victims of such a man any harm to drive by and see him picking up trash or crawling up out of the storm sewers covered in slime either... ...might even help them in a strange sort of way.....
