Curious as to your opinions. A friend of mine with similar "Christian" experiences emailed me about this and I went to the church's website to hear the sermon and verified it. He said "they" had a visiting preacher last week who told the following story. The host pastor and his family took the visiting preacher out to lunch after the morning service. At the evening service, this visitor had to tell the story that while at the restaurant he spoke to their waitress about Jesus and was going to give her a gospel tract. He said he realized that "his" tract had the address of his church that is out of state and that he asked the host pastor to give her a tract that had the local church address on it. He went on to say that the pastor did not have one on him and had to go out to his car to search for one. Eventually he ended the story with the pastor's wife finding a tract in her purse and gave it to the waitress.
First, I am glad that the visiting preacher spoke to the waitress about Christ, but was it necessary to make the host pastor look incompetent/ineffecient/ill-prepared/etc while preaching for his congregation? It reminds of some the the humiliating stories that Bob Gray (Tx) would tell about other pastors in an attempt to make himself look good at the expense of another pastor. I would think that saying his tract had his out of state church on the back of it, so the Pastor's wife gave the waitress one with their local church address would have sufficed.
I had not heard of this visiting preacher before and having listened to him last week, I will not go out of my way to hear him if he is in my area. Are IFB preachers so insecure that they keep having to promote themselves over those who host them?
Thousghts?

Give the link so we can listen ourselves.

It is a common tactic in the IFB to cause people to follow by threatening with shame. "If you don't X, you are bad." "You had better X, so you don't look like this guy." It is also common for IFB leadership to lead through sarcasm and cutting down others. It is intended to show how close they are to each other while also showing who is the big dog on stage. Other times, the evangelist will tell you he is doing this to keep the pastor humble and help his people better relate to him.

In all instances, I don't agree with the methods.

I'm not sure what to think about this story... a lot depends on how it was done. It could have been done in a bit of fun, or it could have totally tried to destroy the host pastor while puffing up the visiting preacher.
Based on the OP, it seems a bit thoughtless, but I haven't listed to the video/audio.
