Who's Your "Hero"?

Recently some QB from the San Fran 49'ers didn't stand up for the National Anthem.  He said he was "making a statement" about Black suppression in America or some stuff like that.  (Oh, this guy is Black and makes like a zillion dollars a year to throw a ball)

So this graphic is now floating around Facebook.

My answer to its question is:  Neither.

There is no doubt that the meaning of the word "hero" has been cheapened and degraded over the last decade or so.

Any thoughts?

I think if Colin would come out now and say he loves his country and is thankful to be living in this great land, he just wanted to make a statement about some injustice he see then I no issue with this.

Glen has made great sacrifice to serve our nation, for that he deserves to be honored.

From the original use of the word in Greek mythology, the "hero" of the story was the conqueror in a quest.
If you didn't conquer, you weren't admired.
Nowadays we admire anyone who participates, but that was not always so.
"Hero" is reserved for the successful "star of the show" in a conquest.
Serving in the military is not an "extraordinary feat".  It is ordinary.
There are heroes in the military, and we award them with heroes awards, such as the Presidential Medal of Valor.
They must actually do some extraordinary feat(s) to receive this honor.

Same for the NFL.
Kap will never be in Canton, where the heroes names are listed.

Quit degrading the word "hero" to the point where average people are called by it, they don't deserve it.
