What brought you to FFF (even a previous one) and eventually this one?

I joined the forum (.com) back in 2008. So, I suppose that makes me one of the newer members.

I was lacking in discussion of the Bible. Unfortunately, even when consistently involved in a local church, there was no small group. So, I looked for a small group, where I knew no one and here it was, kind of.

I hung out on the Bible Versions side of the .com. I was surprised to see the controversy still existed. I thought it had basically dissolved. It has become far less than it was in the 1980s. There were some KJVOs presenting themselves as knowing Greek and Hebrew, so I dove in.

I am am an angel realized that he could put the .com into a legal issue by copying and pasting copyrighted material. Unfortunately, the admin was not interested in keeping the forum healthy. I ended up over here, eventually.

I became the admin of this forum in 2012 after it had been successfully deployed by another member.

Why are you here?

I was a long time member of the previous FFF (the .com). Was sad to see it slide into total chaos when whoever bought it just let it go to waste. Don't remember who sent me info about the new .org version just a few days after it "opened for business," but I decided to check it out and I've been here ever since.

Lots of good people for the most part. Maybe a few who need to cut back on the caffeine a little bit (LOL!!), but hey, it wouldn't be an FFF without a diverse, sometimes crazy for Coco Puffs cast of characters.

It was 2002 as best as I can remember. I had just gone through a divorce and had too much time on my hand. I was about 15 years past living in the IFB world, much of what I would consider the X part of the movement, and a father who was well into some of the extremes like Carl McIntyre and Billy James Hargis. When you go through a divorce and you realize you have at least a good part of the fault it does one good to spend some time in repentance and reflection.  At the same time, you want someone to kind of understand from where you come. Very few in my "evangelical" orbit had any knowledge of the fundamentalist world and even fewer, if any, could understand the idiosyncrasies.

I was searching around the internet one day and came across the FFF.  The "Fighting Fundamentalist" tag just perfectly fit what I had known of the IFB world and I'm always up for a spirited discussion so I began reading, and reading, and reading. I found Marine and when I recognized who he was I thought it was pretty cool he was on here and when someone would write that after a long struggle they had moved on from the legalism he would welcome them to the "fellowship of the free" IIRC. I think I was really still dealing with the strong pull of that legalism although I had long ago left the movement and the FFF was very cathartic for me. Later I would see myself as just one of the many here who would be on an unspoken mission to help welcome more to the "fellowship of the free". Lest I sound so self-righteous I really do like controversy on some topics and did plenty of "fighting" and still do but hopefully not in an offensive way. Plus it can be addictive.

I don't remember how I came across the old (not the original) forum, but it was sometime before 2010.  We moved to a quiet area in the Appalachians and I missed the numerous interactions with a variety of people in the places we lived during my husband's 23-year career in the Navy.  I am more of a spectator, but I like to read the opinions that differ from my own.

I had a little go'round with someone right after joining SharperIron. I was told to shape up. That FFF style behavior was not welcome there. I asked what FFF was and followed their directions to the post-Katrina pre-autobot mess version.

I tried a couple of the other attempts to resurrect the FFF but didn't like any of them until finding  this one.
