Anyone remember how The G Man turned from a snarky, but interesting, Arminian, into a crybaby anti-Calvinist because he heard a bad Presbyterian funeral sermon?

I bet if everyone related their run-in with an idiot who held any of the views that YOU share, we could fill up these forums with garbage until they break.

When you can't provide scriptural support for your view and have to resort to anecdotes about the behavior of someone who holds an opposing view, you've long since lost the argument.

Here is what puzzles me... a Calvinist will talk about a non-Calvinist who will brag about saving himself... i have NEVER met such a fool in my life. Never.. been doing this for almost 30 years and been in a multitude of churches. Never met such a fool, but Calvinists folks think its common that non-Calvies brag about saving themselves.

I've never heard a Calvinist say anything like that.

I, personally, have said that the notion of free will choice for salvation gives you something about which to boast.  And it's true.  If your decision is the hinge and turning point of your salvation, then you had a pivotal role in your own salvation.  That's why it's called synergism.

Calvinists cannot say that.  That's why Calvinism is called monergism.  It's all God.  And I never, ever met a Calvinist who thinks he was chosen because there was something special about him that made him better than the next person.  Calvinism is an entirely humbling view of salvation.

Regardless, I have never heard, and never said free willers actually do the boasting.  Only that their view of salvation gives them the right to boast.  They deny it, of course, but logically, it's still true.
