Most any worker, works much harder than the average "pastor or evangelist".

I know you wouldn't know this from hearing the average fundamentalist talk of how hard they work for Jesus.... but the average worker pulling a 40 hour shift a week works MUCH harder than the average pastor drawing a salary.

Which is one of the reasons, I've advocated for a "members appreciation" day at least once a year at the average "local church".

If they can have a "pastor appreciation celebration" at least 4 times a year because the preacher is working so hard..... then they can have a member appreciation at least once a year and share a little "glory" with someone else.

The average pastor can write a sermon in just a few hours at most. Sure, he might have to do a funeral or a wedding every once in a while but its usually "easy money". With a ton of praise to go along with it.

They can go fishing, hunting, golfing and have extensive preacher fellowships to expense. I know I know..... It was hard before.....and they worked when they didn't get paid......Well, so have just about anyone else.

Just more exaggeration and nonsense from them.

Or how about getting rid of the man worship altogether and make every Sunday Jesus appreciation day? Shifting from worshiping the pastor to worshiping the members is not really a Biblical solution.

Actually the fundy preachers I know couldn't really be accused of being lazy. Part of the reason (and I think this holds true for most fundy pastors) is that at least the ones I've known have been control freaks. So by nature they believe they need to be involved in everything and that nothing can get accomplished without them. Certainly that type of a personality can create issues within a church but laziness is not typically one those issues.

Your claims are merely anecdotal, and clearly from a very jaded perspective.

. . . he said, without citing any sources or metrics for measuring "harder work" whatsoever.

It's true because "you know it's true" and questioning praise_treasure_undivided is the same as being in denial.

I am experienced in the field . You never have been Ransom.

What metric would you accept? I've known you for a long time Ransom. No matter what I say, you'll find some way to criticize it.

How hard are you working?

I know what they do. I've been around them for decades. I know what I've experienced. I know what others have experienced.

Most "preachers" are whiny little complainers exaggerating their efforts. They have it easy and they know it. That is why they guard their little territories so closely.

I must have missed that class in College where I worked full time, full time ministry and heavy class load.
I am bi-vocational now and work about 50 to 60 hours a week at my SECULAR job and then preach Sunday morn, Sunday Eve and Wednesday Eve.
I often spend more than 2 to 3 hours studying and praying over sermons.
We do NOT have pastor appreciation at the church I pastor. I often preach exegetically.
Maybe I'm not IFB?

Nope. I'm sure in his wisdom Treasure has already declared you IFB. And quite frankly I'm surprised to find you blaspheming against Treasure in such a way. If Treasure has declared every pastor lazy than it is so.

Then you've proved just how much easier it is for those who are full time in "their ministry". You basically have a part time job. Which is what most "full time" ministers have.

I often spend more than 2 to 3 hours studying and praying over sermons.

Most spend much less. Sure, they might stay in their "study" longer but not actively working.

Picture on the "wall of faith"? Do you have a "members appreciation day"? Or maybe that is everyday?

Maybe I'm not IFB?

Maybe you are.

Can you show Biblical support for a "member appreciation day" or are you going extra Biblical once again?

Can you show Biblical support for "pastor appreciation day" or have you always been "extra Biblical"?

It is a logical argument with a little sarcasm thrown in.

I don't support a pastor appreciation day. I support making every Sunday Jesus appreciation day.

That's another red herring as I am not a pastor or an evangelist. Just another attempt at ad hominem, and lacking argumentative substance.

You know what they say about birds of feather flocking together. Maybe your circle of experiences is confined to a toxic brew of narcissists. The shepherds I know care for their flock in such a way that proves that they're not hirelings nor lazy.

It was just a question. As much as you enjoy deflecting, it is obvious you're not working very hard yourself.

You can't even get the reference right. Your IFB roots are a glaring example of how you and your "birds of a feather" treat God's children....

There is only ONE flock and that flock isn't your flock nor your friends flock. Jesus told Peter... feed MY Sheep. If you have such a hard time getting that one simple Truth right.... then you're no overseer and neither your "birds of feather friends".

Just for the record, your friends can't do what Jesus does...
