Leadership Seminars

I'm kind of surprised they had that at a state park in Ohio. I mean I'd expect it in Kentucky it's the state vegetable there.
I'm going to spring that one on my wife...She's a western KY native, Mayfield!

Well at least she's from the civilized side of the state. My dad lives in Eastern KY. My step mother is from there.
I am within an hour of what you would call Eastern Kentucky, in southern Ohio. My former boss, who's retired now, was from Harlan county KY. He had a very Kentucky-esque dialect, and even here in southern Ohio, which is the foothills of the Appalachians, his speech patterns stood out. He was a hillbilly, but not one that you would want to try to match wits with. Very sharp fella. Interestingly enough, he is also the fellow who got me back in church after a years long hiatus.

My FIL had a church camp ministry outside of a town called Vinton, OH, which was southeastern OH, literally in the middle of nowhere.

That's right, I think I was telling you about the tv show I watched a few years ago where the guys a federal marshal that gets reassigned from Miami back to Harland county Ky where he grew up. He's chasing down meth heads and the such that he grew up with. It's an interesting area. Where my dad lives is about twenty minutes from the shack that Loretta Lynn grew up in. It used to be when you would go there to see it her father would come from the much nicer house next door and give a guided tour. Actually where I grew up in Northern Indiana the small towns were all filled with people from Kentucky and West Virginia.

My pastor's son pastors a church in the county just to the west of Vinton (Jackson). And yes, that direction is pretty much close to middle of nowhere, lol.

Butcher Holler.

Jackson Baptist Temple?
Yep, you familiar with it?

My FIL lived off of Ewington Road, 5 miles outside of Vinton. Pop 200.

Justified - I enjoyed watching that show and was sad when it ended.

My dad was telling me a few years ago there was a guy buy the last name of Crowder that was arrested for meth distribution just over the line in WV. He jokingly asked if it was a relation to Boyd.

That's pretty close to Hatfield and McCoy territory ain't it?
I think so. I didn't grow up there but I've spent quite a bit time down there. My dad's house is at the end of the hollow. So he sets up his shooting area across the driveway. A few years back I accepted a position that involved a thorough background check where they send an investigator to speak with your relatives. I just imagined them rolling up to his house and see him shooting across his drive with about half a dozen of his favorite guns out.

I thought you said I was insane? Yet, here you are following me around........

God reward you according to your works.
I live in WV the insane don't scare me.

I noticed Creepy Treasure went kind of silent. He must be browsing the internet for pics of other peoples children.

I too have a security clearance, hear guns often, and live up a holler. Matter of fact, one of my favorite t-shirts of yesteryear was one that had the Jeff Fox worthy slogan "ya know you're a redneck when directions to your house are over the creek and up the holler", which is an apt description for where we live. 😁
