Try this definition on for size:
Music: The nonverbal communication of mood, emotion, demeanor, decorum, etc. through the pleasing and logical arrangement of certain sounds. Music is thought.
Sounds logical....but, is it really?
Not after listening to some of the artists from these days!

Ah, but there's no consensus on that, either. There are cultures, particularly in Asia or the Middle East, where the local music divides the octave into 24, 36, even up to 72 tones. Some use equal temperament, some don't. And so forth.
Funny, that. Until recently, I always thought it was the augmented fifth that was the devil's chord, for some reason, not the diminished. One of my music teachers must have been mistaken.

and isn;t it nice to know that even if the electrical grid fails... and modern high

Muse-ick is named for thought. To muse is to think long and deeply about something. The inspiration for art and music and wisdom, according the Greeks, came from the Muses, and poets often invoke their muses in their works.
And feelings are a form of thought as well. We often use the terms 'feel' and 'think' synonymously. "How do you feel about that?" means "What do you think about that?"
A 'musical thought' is a real concept in musicology.
